Re: Engine stalls in gear
I ordered a piston stop and some harmonic balancer tape so I can make sure that I'm at TDC before going any further. Thanks for all of the suggestions so far!

Re: Engine stalls in gear
Thank you, guys! I think part of my confusion lies in the fact that I followed the Edelbrock install manual. They state that the passenger side vac port is for "emissions controlled engines", which I'm not using. The drivers side states, "for non emission controlled engines". I will go back to the s...

Re: Engine stalls in gear
yes its connected to pcvmy5thmopar wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 5:56 pmWrong port on carb. Driver side is full vacuum. You need ported. Put in stop rotate engine, mark balancer at zero, rotate other way mark at zero. True TDC is exactly between marks. Is the vacuum port on front connected to the PCV? Craig

Re: Engine stalls in gear
Thank you guys! Yes, there is a plug in the rear of the carb and I'm using the driver's side vac port on the front of the carb. This side is drawing vacuum, the other side is not and I've got it capped. I guess I've never heard of a piston stop. I generally just pull the #1 plug and visually watch t...

Re: Engine stalls in gear
Alright, thank you. I'm for darned sure not a professional mechanic. My gut thought would be that the rpms aren't high enough, but never considered that lower rpmd might make for a smoother shift. I'm just frustrated at this point because I've tried so many different scenarios. I'm so close to getti...

Re: "priming" hose for oil pressure gauge
Correct. You're always going to see some air in the line because there is nothing to keep the oil from draining back into the engine.

Engine stalls in gear
Alright, I'm stumped and throwing up the white flag of defeat! I have a transplanted 318/727 combo out of a 1980 D150 in my '66 D100 that originally had a slant 6/3speed. The engine is stock with the exception of an Edelbrock 1404 carb and an Edelbrock performer intake, a stock distributor with a Pe...

fuel pump allowing fuel to pass?
This is probably a stupid question but not a problem that I've encountered before. I installed a new Carter muscle car mechanical fuel pump from Summit Racing. After installing it I hooked the line from the fuel tank to the inlet of the pump and fuel pours out the outlet side of the pump. Should fue...

Re: 66 D100 318 headers??
Thank you! Those shorty block hugger headers do look like the way to go, especially for the budget minded. I have a set of long tube headers, (don't know brand), that came with the engine but they hit the crossmember.

66 D100 318 headers??
I've got a 66 D100 that I've installed a 318 engine and 727 trans combo. What are you guys using for headers with this year truck with same engine/trans combination?

crew cab in Sioux City, Iowa??
A buddy of mine at work said that he attended a parts swap meet in Sioux City last weekend and saw a sweptline crewcab in the parking lot for sale. He's not a dodge guy but guessed it as a '66ish with a faded "yellow" paint job. He said he thought of me when he saw it but didn't check out the price ...

Re: pic request patina
66 dodge5.jpg I realize that this thread is several years old but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in anyway. This paint job is semi-pro at best, but you know what? I love it! It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's all about what you like and what you're happy with. My last '66 hd stoc...

The tail shaft cross member came with the "package deal". I have no idea what it came out of.

318 auto cross member swap?
I have a 66 D100 that originally had the /6, 3 spd combo. The previous owner had the 318 auto that he started to install but ran out of funds. The following pics are what I have. Can any of you help me in figuring out what else I'll need to be successful? I will need a set of engine mounts as the or...

Fraser engines
Hello all,
I'm wondering if any of you have and feedback on Fraser re-manufactured engines? I'm trying to decide whether or not it's in my best interest to rebuild my current 318 LA or look into other options.
Thanks a bunch!
