Re: Going back to Points

really liked the way the engine ran with the Pertronix...but I toasted 2 out of 3 I owned on this project and another. The timing seemed more stable Any chance the pertronix are getting fried because of an installation error ? Like if you forgot to include the ballast resistor in the circuit when r...

Re: Going back to Points

Curious as to why are were not happy with electronic ignition - was it something with the Pertronix distributor in particular? Thanks for the help all. Going back to Points

A mechanic friend of mine ( who moved) replaced the original points system w/ a pertronix system a few years back when I didnt have time to deal with it. And now I wish to go back to the original parts(long story) . I have no reference now of how they were installed. Can some one post where the orig...

Re: Any new ways to flush gas tanks?

I figured out the stuff that kept plugging my fuel filter was an old coating in the tank and not rust. With a pressure washer it came out in sheets. But I found the tank to be in excellent condition. I decided to take it to a radiator shop to boil it out, and it looked pretty clean. I tapped the sid...

Re: best carb

My 1969 W200 has the 318 and 46k original miles. It has been fairly unmolested so I think the Stromberg WW carb is original. After a recent rebuild it starts easy and runs great w/ lots of power. I can not tell if the manual choke was original, the manifold is built to take an auto choke but it doe...

Re: Gas tank full of rust.

Took the fuel tank out of my 69 last weekend because the fuel filter was plugging. I was shocked to see it was in very good shape w/ just a few flakes of rust in the bottom. I would like to bend the pickup tube so it sits 1/2" off the bottom, anyone see any harm? After I let it air out for a few day...

Re: radio's

When presented w/ the same dilemma, my dash is also unmolested....I am looking at an under dash. If you dont like the looks of that, you can mount one in the glove box. With all the new electronics out there do your research....there are remote systems, etc etc. under the seat? I vote "no".....cant ...

Re: Dana 44 broken

Thanks. I see a few Dana 60s for sale locally on Craigs. They want $800-1000, both have high pinions; one has 4:10. My truck does not have power assist brakes. Do disc brakes need power assist? What modifications can I expect to need? spring/steering?

Re: Dana 44 broken

I have a 69 W200 that has a front axle that appears to have been opened up and worked on. I think it is a Dana 44 front but know little about axles. It is used as a snow plow so the front gets worked pretty hard. How can I tell what axle it is? What should I look for in getting a Dana 60? Ratio? If ...

Re: Floor pan

I am planning to replace the floor pans in my 69 w200. From some of the pics, it looks like most have been lap welded into place. I am a self taught welder ( not very good) but have seen floors repaired using a series of small plug welds about an inch apart, an then sealed on both sides. Which is ea...

Re: floor pan interchange, truck and panel truck?

Question on replacement floor pans for 69w200: I found some different sources for sheet metal. One was the "vintagepowerwagon" site that apparently is not selling anymore. I wanted these because of the dimple around the mount hole was built in.. The others look like the dimple needs to be welded in ...

The Dualmatic hub and the dash sticker. I had been around a lot of old trucks but never seen this hub. My Dodge Tech Svc Manual for S series trucks talks about Warn hubs but nothing specific . I think they had some NOS stock and threw some on.... 69w200 002A.jpg I would actually like to find a match...

Re: Heater Fun

Under the best circumstances, do Sweptline heaters/blowers/defrosts work well?

On my 69, air warms quickly w/ engine, blower motor moves little air, defroster sucks. I see the heater core case is easy to get to...plugged w/ debris? I guess I dont have anything to compare.

Re: 1969 W200 Locking Hubs

I think Dodge used several different Warn hub models from 61-71. Not sure if there is any "correct" model number for a particular year but Warn was the OEM supplier. Another post on this: http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=21592&start=0 There is a Dualmatic hub brand sticker - dia...

Re: 1969 W200 Locking Hubs

I spent a few evenings trying to research Dualmatics on the net. It seems they were made until the mid 60's. I cant find any info on different sizes, models etc. Here is an image if this works: http://www.cj3apage.com/restoring_dualmatic_hubs.htm
