Re: Town Wagon, cowl vent functionality question.

Chris,
I'm getting my Town Wagon back from the shop this week and can help provide some context to the issue you're trying to solve... I'm also in Golden, CO so if needed, we can meet up and draw an in-person comparison to what's out of whack on your truck! PM me for contact info.

Re: Rough start, rough idle, engine sputter

You should check you're top dead center. Harmonic balancers spin with age and the mark can be wrong. The way you described the engine performance leads me to believe there is a timing issue. Bring the engine idle speed up to about 1500/2000 and move the distributor in whatever direction to achieve ...

Town Wagon Inner Wheel Well

I'm beginning the repair on my rear wheel wells and need to rebuilld the inner well before I weld the wheel arches on. Any suggestions on where to source an inner wheel well (other than a donor)? Other vehicles that may have similar shaped wells?

Winter storage suggetions

Those of you who live in areas where there seasons actually change, what do you do to your trucks to prep them for extended periods in storage? Do you drain the gas tank or simply add Sta-Bil or other additive? I have a trickle charger for my battery and will be pulling that. Just wondering what you...

Re: Electronic Ignition conversion issues

Did you measure Coil + while starting? Maybe some wiring got "wrong" in terms of 12V to the coil while engaging the starter. Or, in other words - did you re-wire the wires from bulkhead to coil & ballast resistor (only these couple of wires) different than before? The only wires that are new are fo...

Re: Electronic Ignition conversion issues

Also, there are 2 wires on the distributor: an orange/black, and a blue/black. The orange plugs into the "W" terminal on the EI module, and the blue plugs into the"G" terminal. On the other side of the module I wired the "B" terminal to the positive side of the coil, and the "C" terminal to the nega...

Re: Electronic Ignition conversion issues

The pic is of the old unit. I'm using an '80's Mopar electronic distributor with an external GM EI module mounted to it. According to what I've researched I need to retain the ballast resistor if I'm still using a canister style coil as this set up will burn up the coil without the ballast resistor ...

Electronic Ignition conversion issues

Upgrading to EI. Got new distributor in with the EI module and attached all wires per the instructions. Checked and double checked the wires. Truck turns but wont fire. Instructions even state to regap plugs to .050. Did that and still nothing. No matter how I adjust the timing, it simply won't fire...

I am using the factory steering box as I did not have to modify the steering. I did however add new drag link, ends, etc as most of those parts were worn.

Re: 80 4wd front axle swap to 71 2wd

I did something similar on my '66 Town Wagon. I found axles from an '81 W-150 and am in the middle of the 4x4 conversion. I rebuilt both axles and then added a dual pot master cylinder and a booster to aid the brakes. I had to swap the shock mounts to the front of the axle on the front end and also ...

Re: Rear Shock Choice - Need advice after mods...

Thanks for the input and resources! After measuring a few things and comparing to some other trucks in the area, I think I have ti figured out... I have about 23.125" between the mounting pins as it sits. From what I can gather, I'll need about 4" of play from center. Found a Monroe (Magnum 65) truc...

Rear Shock Choice - Need advice after mods...

I just acquired and installed a set of 4" lift blocks for the rear end of my '66 D100 Town Wagon that fixed the issue I was battling with the rear end sagging. I've upgraded the springs front and rear and am also in the process of converting the truck to 4x4. In addition to the new springs and the l...

I'm experiencing a similar issue. Thought the gear oil was leaking out of the front of the transmission but upon further inspection determined engine oil was leaking out of the rear of the motor. Guessing this is my rear main seal on the old Poly.... Leaking all over clutch slave cylinder, flywheel ...

Re: Town Wagon Window Rubber Needed (All Windows)

I know Restoration Specialites and Clester's both stock kits and parts for the '61-'71 Sweptline pickups. The kits I bought from Clester's Auto for my Town Wagon were spot on, including all rubber seals and the correct window channels for the sliding side windows.

Re: Town Wagon Window Rubber Needed (All Windows)

Thanks for the link to the Danno site. Looks like I'll be able to find the window channel and beltline that I need to finish the doors off. I did find Clester's Auto (http://www.clestersauto.com/Pages/DodgeTrucks.aspx) for the window seals for the sides and rear. Had exactly what I needed, a bit pri...
