Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

For the '01 dodge pickup, I usually go to Dodge. This is probably my favorite line to say when it comes to parts. "If your OEM part didn't go bad in the first place, would you be needing another one?" Why buy the same part that just went bad? If dealer parts are so good, why don't they come with a ...

Transmission Question

Not a Swept so posted here. 1997 Land Rover Discovery 4.0L Manual Transmission. Here is what its doing; there is an issue shifting between gears. Once the truck is in gear things seem to be just fine, the issue is the shifter binds and it won't go into gear. I disassembled the center console to see ...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

Could you explain how you source your rebuilt stuff? Our store near work has switched suppliers so often it is hard to keep track. I am in a quandry as to where to source filters now that wix is going Chinese. I get a far better deal at Carquest, but I know that they are wix also. Normally I would ...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

Small, one location family owned parts store. At one time long ago affiliated with Bumper to Bumper but not anymore. I don't spend big bucks there, but I've had the discount for over 30 yrs. They know me by name but then they know most of their customers by name. It's not common knowledge that "eve...

Any difference in 318 air filter housings?

Hey guys, need some experienced help here. I'm trying to fix a problem with WIX filters cataloging. Thanks to Doug(digdoug) the problem came to my attn that WIX (which is NAPA and Carquest filters) are showing a 2020 filter for his 67' 318's when it should be a 2041. This is apparently a big problem...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

The Ma and Pa store I deal with regularly actually ENCOURAGES the counter staff to give out discounts...to friends or anyone else. Car guys usually have car guys as friends and friends like to buy where friends work and car guys friends are very likely to do their own work and buy parts. The store ...

I had this same problem. I didn't try the lube, but I replace the speedo and it fixed the problem for 3 years. Now its back, so is it the cable or the speedo going out again?

Re: Radiator replacement

I just took the extra radiator holding brackets off of mine and used an old Ford Radiator that had the same tranny inlet line holes. It's almost twice as big as the original. It's not perfect, but it works great. Can't remember the year of the ford, but just took measurements with me to the scrap ya...

They waste their sponsorship money on that retard mikey too. That there is the best reason not to go there.   LMAO Of course using that logic I shouldn't go to Lowe's/Home Depot....I don't like JJ or smoke, nor any of the others of NASCAR's "chosen", the chevy posterboys. Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

Ryan, From what I know, there are a few different "tiers" of pricing. Around here, NAPA's "Preferred Cash Customer" pricing is prohibitive. Can you suggest a way for all those interested to get to a "Preferred Racing Custom" price structure or something comparable? I dig my NAPA. A hometown pal of ...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

My experience has been that the NAPA prices are usually MUCH higher. For example, a re manufactured mini starter from NAPA for a 94 Ram and a Lifetime warranty is $20 higher and has a $15 higher core. To be fair, this is a lot closer than the last time I checked. The NAPA has come down considerably...

I went in a couple months ago to get some wix(or napa gold) air filters for my 67 dodge trucks with 318s( I have a D300 and two W200s that all use the same filter) .I was sold a 2020 air filter. Can you tell me where NAPA went wrong? Doug Hmmmm... this is what it calls for as a stock replacement :t...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

However, my local NAPA is horrible at calling me when i order something. I ordered a drag link for my 68, 6 weeks ago, I call every week and its still not here. The excuse is that its a valid part # but hasn't been located. Kooky. I try another NAPA and instead of $85 its $115 - which brings me to ...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

I like to patronize little parts stores. If there is an independant store and the Parts guys are decent I will go there. If I go to a chain it will depend entirely on the Partsman if I come back. If the Partsman isn't knowledgeable but does listen to what I have to say and has a good attitude I wil...
