Re: My '63 D100 "The Boxer" does it's last round.

No one was hurt. The other driver drove to work with a broken grille, cracked bumper, and a knocked out headlight. The ac compressor was even ok. The airbag didn't even go off. It was an early 2000's Ford Explorer. I'm glad the other car was still driveable and no did get hurt. That would've sucked.

My '63 D100 "The Boxer" does it's last round.

1266471_565985816797883_920063569_o.jpg I called it that because I like Simon and Garfunkel and because it had taken some decent hits in it's life. It needed a lot of body work but over time I managed to at least get rear fenders, a chrome grille, and nice bezels. It had a fair amount of work done ...

what to expect to pay, windshield needed.

This is actually not for a sweptline, but a '73 lifestyle truck. would I be money ahead to get one from a ram truck and try to install it myself? are there people out there that do just installs? any idea on c
ost of having the glass place source the windshield and install it?

If the plate is there, and your starter is down low on the driver's side then yes your 727 has the small block bolt pattern. Pretty nifty huh?

That's my plan if I decide to go on 318/360 mode. Just yank the adaptor.

Re: Pulling springs and bump-steer.

For what it's worth I may just leave it alone and get the springs I need for the back. I think they look good at stock height too. I was looking at my front springs and even with all six in the pack they are pretty damn flat. So it may drop toooo much even if I pull just 2. If I'm gonna do these kin...

If not that one, might I suggest the one I posted in the non member for sale section. It's not a big block automatic though.

Pulling springs and bump-steer.

So I finally got a new job close enough to home that I can give the swepty a rest and pull the front end apart. It has the 2 bottom springs out of the rear packs so I figured I would pull the bottom 2 from the front when it goes back together. Are those the right ones? I'm not going for super low, j...

Now if I could just get some fenders to go with those nice bezels. 40 bux for everything, I figure even the junk yard would've wanted more.

Re: Looking to purchase truck, need some help!

That's factory for the shifter. Since it's already automatic it would be easy to swap to a 318/727. Just add radiator and exhaust and a few other bits and pieces. Edit: you're also gonna want a front sump oil pan for that 318.

Donor for 10" drums, backing plates, etc.

So I have the 11" brakes on the ol' 8.75 I got from a '66 and it looks like my axle seal finally went. I need shoes for it and I know the drums are beyond used up. Being as they're hard to get, what. are some good vehicles to go looking for at the junkyards?

Re: True daily driven swepty

My truck is my only vehicle. 30 miles each way to work during the week and wherever I go when I'm off work. It's uh... rugged at times but I've never really had a vehicle with power steering so I'm used to it, I don't think the drums brakes are that bad. it's got a slant six so it takes it's time ge...

1972 D200, the lifestyle era. From what I understand the spring perches are actually off by 1/16 or something on each side. I've also seen later ones put in. What happened to yours? Maybe you can just get the center chunk for it?

Re: Flat spot off idle..

Is it the Carter carb? It could very well be leaning out, make sure you have both check balls and the one for the accelerator pump is seating properly. Could very likely be the accelerator pump too. I went through 3 of those Carters trying to get rid of the flat spot with my slant six. Not that they...

If it's good then why not? If you're keeping it automatic at least you won't be hunting down a balanced flywheel. I like the 360, thinking of going that route if i can find one.

You could always get '62 through early '65 they all have 4 headlights and that particular grille. '61 has a one year only grille that looks pretty cool. I'm sure you've tried craigslist but you would be surprised what pops up, the guys in this forum find some pretty cool trucks that are posted in th...
