Re: Starting Woes
I have not pulled the starter from the truck. The star washers are a good suggestion, but If I didn't have a good connection, I think I'd see that in my voltage and resistance readings. Unknown to me at the time, there is a really good local rebuilder-I'm going to bring him both and have them redone...

Re: Starting Woes

Starting Woes
FYI my preference is for more detail rather than less... So here it goes... The Bendix/solenoid had slowly been dying in my '68 W300 with a 225 slant six. 2 years ago I purchased a rebuilt starter from Napa. Upon installation the starter did not function. I behaved as if I had a dead battery-it woul...

Re: Wheel Color
@prormk Thanks! The tires are 7.00-15 LT. It's what I have run on the truck for the last several sets. @fireguyfire All non-body color, non plated exterior metal (rims, grills, bumper, etc) for our trucks was painted either sand dune white or dodge truck white. The earlier trucks had a little more ye...

Re: Is this truck rare?
I think the longer automatic transmission body did not work with the transfercase used '68 and earlier W series trucks.

Re: Wheel Color
I ended up having the tires from 3 different sets of early trucks wheels dismounted. I brought a set of four rims to my local powdercoater and snapped these images. I ended up going with BG-01, which looked slightly lighter than the original, unfaded color present on the inner portion of the rim. Th...

Re: Push Button Transmission Price
I have a couple, all small blocks. Two from trucks and one from a car. Two aluminum and one cast iron. The one cast iron one is still attached to a poly 318.

Push Button Transmission Price
What would be a fair price for a pushbutton (cable shifted) transmission core? Does it matter iron or aluminum case?
Thanks
Thanks

Wheel Color
I'd like to get my wheels powdercoated a close approximation of the original color. I had always assumed they were sand dune white ( a brighter white per a paint chip). After I had the tires dismounted, on the DD '63 and Parts Truck, the wheels appear to be more a a beige-y color. Almost like parchm...

Big Block Motor Mounts
I have a spare set of Big Block Motor mounts someone wants to buy. I was kinda hoarding them for some future project. But there are not doing anyone any good in storage. What would be a fair price for them? If I ever do decide to build up something powered by a 440, will I kick my self for selling t...

Steering Box Rebuild Reference
I need to have the box rebuilt on my '68 W300. I don't think this box is exactly common. I know several members have had Steer and Gear in Ohio do work for them and been happy with the results. Being that I am in Southern California, there is also Straight Line. Anyone have any experience from eithe...

Re: 1964 D 200
It actually looks more like a 2nd or 3rd series Power Wagon Bed. If that is the case and its in decent, you could easily sell it and obtain the correct step side or fleet side bed ( I actually have a fleet side bed if you are interested). As for the DRW setup on a the Dana 60, some else should chime...

Re: Winch Centered between Fram rails?
Awesome guys thanks for the info. And to seal the deal, this '64 W30 clearly has the factory Braden winch mounted way off center.

Winch Centered between Fram rails?
I've pulled the Ramsey winch from the front of my truck to rebuild the winch, replace the winch mounts and finish the bumper. While mocking up the new mounts, I noticed the winch wasn't centered, its shifted toward the drivers side by a few inches. Ostensibly to minimize the amount of hacking the in...

Re: Parts truck wanted.
I will begin to disassemble the above truck. I will sell of the parts I don't need, preferably in large groups. (i.e. entire drive train). See parts for sale section of this forum if your interested. Of note this truck was produced about 13000 units ahead of my other red, V8 Auto, long box truck. Be...

Re: Parts truck wanted.
The truck looks good, but the cab was rusted. Not beyond repair, but more than I would want to tackle. It was last run in 2001. The PO parked it when the water pump went out.
