Re: Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

After talking around I believe I'll just rebuild the original engine. Lot less pain in the butt while holding the originality and cool factor. I'll just save the extra coin and look into maybe doing a stroker to it. In the end I'd like the power of the big block but I've read more than enough on the...

Re: Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

Yea I had the heads figured into the cost, just forgot to list them. I'd like to get them opened up a little if I got the spare change.

A clutch is my bigger concern to hold up to big tires on 4x4

Re: Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

So while it can be done its better to stick with rebuilding the poly and biting the bullet on performance parts being expensive is what I'm getting. I think I may do that, it's just a lot of money to get some hp out of these, intake, cam, headers, maybe so block work. I guess at the very least regea...

Re: Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

What about the clutch then? Would i still have to find a 10 spline clutch and pressure plate for a big block? Then what would the flywheel be? The mechanical flywheel or a hydraulic type. In not sure if there's a difference or not though between the two like the tooth count or something :thinking

Re: Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

Could one possibly go to a mechanical style bellhousing and convert it to hydraulic? Perhaps a bracket holding a slave cylinder next to the clutch fork so it would engage the clutch fork when the pedal was pushed in? Or is that to far out of it? :shame or would it be a problem if finding a 10 spline...

Poly 318 rebuild or 383 swap?

While its out id like to maybe throw some performance parts on it to try and get some more ponies out of her but parts are not cheap whatsoever for those old b...

Re: lifting clarification questions

Definitly painting the mirrors a different color and the road outlaws sticker is this truck club at our school I'm not an expert on this topic, but do own a few W Series Sweptlines with both standard and large closed knuckle D44 front axles. If you go up 6" to "settle" at 4", you will have a signif...

lifting clarification questions

Alright so I have some questions that I need clarification on. 1. Ive seen that 4"(for lifting) is when you have to start doing steering geometry changes. Does that mean at 4" you have to change stuff or, anything over 4" you have too change stuff? 2. Ive also read that to get 4" lift you have to ge...

Re: Doing a 99 point restoration?

Then its a large wing nut ...

Re: Fast an loud swepty episode!!

That's what they said they were gonna put in it. My bet is is that they bag the rear slam the front with a 350 or 383 cheby. Probably automatic. Also probably a bright green with some black accents. Fat tires in rear and skinny front. Or it'll be bagged on front and rear made into a lowrider with 20...
