Re: Swapping diff chunk to 2.76 will it work

I put a 2.72 gear in an 80s slant six truck. It made it a real dog. It bogs down in loose sand in low gear and struggles to pull a riding lawn mower on an 10 foot trailer. I was planning on putting the 3.23 gear back in it. The worst part is it didn't help gas mileage any that I can see.

727 rebuild

I watched a video on rebuilding a 727 trans and it looked somewhat easy. So I was thinking about giving it a shot. Has anyone on here done one of these? I got the trans broke down and I know it will need bands and friction disks. But I think I was having a problem in the valve body as it was stickin...

Re: np 540 clutch help

First, I would like to tank everyone for their input on this. I guess we should have done more research on this before we started. But as with most of the stuff we do, we think we know what we are doing, and then do it on a learning curve from there. The only money that has been spent so far is on h...

Re: np 540 clutch help

Ok, so it looks like my 360 flywheel is different from the 318 hydraulic clutch flywheel in more ways then balance. So the only way the 360 will work is to have the 318 flywheel balanced for the 360 or go to a manual clutch bellhousing. { Am I right so far?? }. Sooooo, is there any other big block t...

Re: np 540 clutch help

I have a 360 flywheel so I don't think that is a problem, I had no intent on using the 318 flywheel. But the 11 inch clutch looks like it is to about a 1/2 inch to the pressure plate bolt holes. I was told that the 361 had a 13 inch clutch but there is no way that would fit this flywheel.

np 540 clutch help

I came up with a np 540 5 speed that has a 1 3/8" 10 spline input shaft for hydro clutch. I would like to put in this old swept tow truck that I am working on. I am putting a 360 in the truck to replace a 318 car engine that has an 11" hydro clutch and a 4 speed that is in the truck now. So I will n...

Re: Home made Grant steering wheel adaptor....

I had the same wheel on my 68 D100. I bought the new adaptor off ebay. It was the same one for a 80s dodge truck. It fit with no probem.

Re: Just too cool

The seat was in the truck , sort of. If you didn't count the part that was falling through the floor pan and the 3/8 plywood that was replacing the floor pan. But the step and body mount are in good shape still. Maybe the truck would look better if it was yellow and green like the matchbox tow truck.

Just too cool

Ok, My 68 was sold. It went on to bigger things. It will be pulling a Plymouth show car around now. But all is not lost, I have this to play with for now.

Re: what to expect to pay, windshield needed.

I paid a little less then 250 a few years ago to have a windshield put in an 84 truck. That was for new windshield, seal ,lock strip, and they came to my house and did it in the front yard.

Re: suggestions better mpg and performance?

9-10 is all I get too. 318, 727, 3.55 with 10.5-31-15 on back. If I drop back to 40 or 45 it will do better, but most of the time I am running 55 to 65 mph or 2500 to 3000 rpm on the tach.

Re: 727

I have been shifting my 727 for two years now. I left the kickdown totally disconnected. I pull a trailer a couple of times a week an lately been putting about 50 to 70 miles a day. I do have the slow shift from 2 to 3 if I keep on the gas, but it shifts fine if I back off a little on the shift. You...

Re: Doing King Pins on my D100.......

Ok this might be a dumb question, but why aren't the bushings made to fit the king pin from the start. The only thing I have ever done king pins on before was a VW. It was a lot of years ago but the best I can remember it fit without reaming.

I got this seat out of a 84 dodge. I used two pieces of bed frame bolted to the 68 slides and then bolted the seat to the bed frame.

Re: Engine bay Flat or Satin? Opinions welcome.

I did my 68 in flat first but when it dried I thought it looked boring and then I noticed my finger prints were showing up real good. So I shot it again in satin and went thick and heavy with the paint. Its got a semi gloss orange pill look now and it cleans up easy.

Re: True daily driven swepty

I have been using My 68 d100 daily for a few years now. I have been having to take my kid back and too to work for her late model Jimmy is down. I am putting about 70 to 80 miles a day on it. Not bad in the morning, but the no air thing sucks in the afternoon. The no power steering isn't bad on open...
