Re: Trouble Bleeding brakes on 71 D100

The flex line was the problem. But then I had issues with the axle brake line "T" or "Y" as some call it. There is no listing on any of the sweptline parts suppliers for this piece. So I found one for a similar year car with the same rear axle and it worked. The brake system is now done. Im now deal...

Re: Hellcat wheel set on a 71 D100

LX LD and LC platform wheels have been used successfully on Jeeps with the 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern. I dont see why they wouldn't work on the Sweptlines. There are several members on naxja.org that are running them. I matched one up myself once and the hubs were even the same size, at least on on XJ Jee...

Re: Trouble Bleeding brakes on 71 D100

Moving down the line is going to be the next step, except I might just start at the rear flex line. Ill be working on it again on Wednesday and Thursday. I replaced the front flex lines but not the rear... it looked ok externally but I know that isn't always the case. Ill let you know what we figure...

Trouble Bleeding brakes on 71 D100

This truck has been sitting for a while and three of the wheel cylinders were froze up. I replaced all the wheel cylinders and a section of line on the rear axle because it froze up at the flare nut. The fronts bled fine but I'm not getting any fluid to the rear. MC is full. (Dual MC). There is a pr...

Re: Grand Cherokee Axle Swap

Dont confuse the 8.8 and 8 inch rear ends. they are different animals. The Explorer 8.8 is actually a couple inches narrower than the Grand axle. I understand you should be fine but just wanted you to have all the info. Which Grand axle do you have by the way? The 44 or the 35? Just wondering.

Re: Grand Cherokee Axle Swap

The rear axle from a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee is not a desireable axle in either of its forms. The Dana 35 and the Dana 44A are both weak choices when you are looking to upgrade anything. Neither will stand up to much abuse. The 44A is an aluminum housing Dana 44 and is much weaker than a cast iron ...

Pics found in family album.. not for faint of heart

I have no info on when these pics were taken. Just that they were on a CD of family pics that was handed out at my wifes grandfather funeral. It doesnt appear that the swepty wrecker made it after the wreck. Looks to have been a pretty hard hit by that coal truck. http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/...

Pieplate sighting in central Ohio

As I was coming across central Ohio on 30 through Canton heading east, I saw a pieplate truck on a trailer being towed by a 1990's Dodge pickup. The swepty was painted bright lime green, with white grille and bumpers. It was 4 wheel drive, and appeared to have 35 or so inch Baja Claws on it all arou...

Re: Newbie with a few questions

Im not taking any of this as any kind of attack. Its all good. Im kinda hoping its 3:73 now just to show everyone something they havent seen before. I can see that this is a nice clean forum, and I appreciate that. My main forum www.comancheclub.com is the same way. Some of the other Jeep forums can...

Re: Newbie with a few questions

Im 99% sure the tag said 3:73. I guess I was thinking VIN plate and tag were the same thing. If you meant the tag on the axle, then it probably was swapped. There is no tag on the axle. The one I saw was on the VIN plate. Ill try to get pics tommorow. For reference, the axle is the same style as a ...

1971 Power steering questions

Im new to the sweptlines, and after looking at the PS setup, I have some questions on how it works. I have never seen a setup like this before. It has 4 lines going to a block on the drag link from the pitman arm to the left knucle. Is this some sort of sensing mechanism to tell fluid what direction...

Re: Newbie with a few questions

Im 99% sure the tag said 3:73. Ill try to get some pics next week of the tags on the truck for confirmation. It also has a posi rear end. I was looking it over this morning and noticed that when you tried to turn one rear wheel it wouldnt turn and the opposite wheel would move in the same direction ...

Newbie with a few questions

My name is Jason, Im a Dodge dealer tech and Jeep Comanche nut and Im looking after a 1971 D100 for a friend. His dad bought it new in 71 and its been in his family ever since. Ive always liked old Dodges, but they seem to be even rarer than the Jeep Comanches I love so much. Its an original 383, 72...
