Re: Sand blasting experience

Man I love that Republic Steel heat stamp !! That is something that is rarely( never) if ever seen on metal . A testament to media blasting with plastic. If it were a plane , you could trace it all the way back to the manufacturer with a stamp like that. COOL post --

Re: Sand blasting experience

712edf is right . I have a 80 gallon 5hp REN14 Champion compressor rated at 19 scfm and it works well with my Truman 99 sandblaster, but this is a "small" sandblaster and it still works out my compressor. Tip size ID is a determining factor on how huge you need to go on the compressor. A 3/32 tip us...

Re: Window Regulator

When rolling down the window do you feel excessive play in any part of the rotation of the handle? Rotation of handle without movement of window could indicate gear tooth fairies hard at work doing away with a tooth -- a rare problem I suspect. I would look also at the pivot points in the door and u...

P/n 2899105 or a 72-78 p/n 3497272. Be prepared for sticker shock unless you have a source. If lucky you can get housing , fork, ball pivot that isn't trashed and inspection pan ( really lucky). These numbers should fit np435 tranny.

Very nice job you have done on your truck. I am 2/3 way thru my 69 300 and alas only a flatbed. Leading the doors for the past week -- a whole lotta work but no bondo anywhere. Your truck looks good enough to be a reference for others in their quest to rebuild and restore. :Thumbsup

Re: vent window

If you have access to a 1/4-28 "riv-nut" setting tool you can tighten up the captive "riv-nut" that resides in the vent window frame. Just a drop of stud and bearing locker fluid around the circumference of the nut will help really keep that nut in it's place. Keep it out of the threaded area as bea...

Door duty !

Just got done tearin down 3 sets of doors and I'm very surprised at the condition of the original (1969, 1970) vent window molded rubber on all of the specimens involved. These gaskets are seemingly bullet proof. After 40+ years they are still pliable and reusable. If they only made the door seals o...

Neil Armstrong blasts off to the heavens again !!

I just read of the passing of Neil Armstrong. :pale I still remember sitting with my dad and brother watching hours and hours of the space program and of course the moonlanding. Man that was cool. Probably the reason I joined the USAF 7 years later in high school. Seems like our society just doesn't...

Front window seal

Anyone have any luck reusing front windshield seal gaskets? Sounds like I'm cheap but the one I am contemplating looks real good and pliable . Tempted, so tempted --- any thoughts or criticisms gladly welcomed :Thumbsup

Sounds like you should get excellent fuel mileage and a strong air compressor outta that motor as it runs. :joker :joker

Nice work - I think us Swepty guys have a bit more true hotrod blood flowing than the C and F crowd. This conversion shows it elegantly. Grafting parts from different makes and models to make it all work is an artful skill. :Thumbsup

Re: Sealing that secret cavity behind the door pillar.

It'd be cool to see it does anyone have pic's I'm having a hard time picturing it. Open either door and look behind the door post at the rear of the cab- that little open area beside the fuel tank where we all put paper towels, extra oil filters, wads of cash , etc. Along the bottom of that area is...

Core wasnt good. tested it. Bought one off amazon for 40 bucks, free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C8DNRM/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details The copper piece cleaned up well, so i might use it. I think i will go with the short plastic one, just like the idea of plastic as opposed to metal....

Re: How do I keep the "patina?"

I washed my truck off with worn but not worn out scotch brite pads - gets the big stuff off and a good layer of oxidation. Then washed it ( scrubbed it)with a heavy towel . The true "patina" now shows . Can buff but I'm lazy.

Re: Installing front fenders

ditto to putting the core support on first and then the fenders. also, if you're building a show truck and painted all your bolts to protect from damaging them use a small piece of plastic cut from a zip lock bag to put in the socket. this acts as a buffer when you go to tighten them. Ben Great adv...
