1970 Cummins, 5spd

I always wanted a Sweptline with a 12 valve (1996-1998) 6BT Intercooled Turbo Cummins but the engine bay is too short and it's hard to fit the intercooler even if you cut into the firewall. I didn't want the 4BT due to the balancing challenge (paint shaker syndrome). It seems the Ford body worked we...

Re: 1970 Powerwagon, new paint

Thanks! Yes, 392 from a 1957 New Yorker that Bigfootsurfin built for me, 5 spd NV4500, Dana 70 rear, Dana 60 front, A/C, HD gauges, Adventurer seat, hydroboost, hydraulic clutch, power steering. :dance ... the truck was destined to have a 392... look at the first 3 digits of the license plates! Re: 1970 Dash Designs

Thanks Bill & Terry! I just bought a second set, HD Gauge cluster on eBay for the 69-71's for a different truck, my green & white one that's been collecting dust for the past 8 years... It's a '66 but has the 69-71 dash frame. I'll need a nice set of Power Wagon emblems if anyone has 'em... I should...

Re: 1970 Dash Designs

I haven't been back east at all since that last trip but I will get there!! I've been driving the '70 for the past year as my work truck. It has been perfect with no issues at all. I think I posted some info on it last year at DodgeSweptline.org... Basically, it has a Dana 70 rear, Dana 60 front wit...

Re: 1970 Dash Designs >> 69-71 Sweptline HD gauge option

This is an old post but as I was researching HD Gauge's for Sweptline's I came across this post AND... there is very little info out there. Users may find the following useful: The version of Heavy Duty Gauge clusters for 69-71 Sweptline's include a 6,000 rpm tach on the left, then a 100mph speedo a...

Re: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A POWER WAGON AND A D100

What is the VIN for your 68? Run it through the registry. Was the VIN plate ever replaced? My catalog shows the smallest wheel base offered for a 1968 W200 is 128 inches, NOT the short bed 114". Perhaps yours is a W100... in 68 they were all 8 lug. ------ To answer the original question... The civil...

Re: differencials gears/Power Wagons 4x4

Hey Johns67, Your son may have "open" diffs. as opposed to "limited slip" differentials. POSI is a Chevy or GM term for limited slip. Mopar uses the term "Sure-Grip" for limited slip. Limited slip (Posi or Sure-Grip) does not mean lockers though!! The wheel with the most traction gets the power. The...

440 in a 318 Swept

My 66 W200 originally had a 318/NP435. It now has a 440 with a 727 auto. It screams!! The 727B's are pretty common and cheap to pick up.

You can do a lot with the 318/360's ... I like the 440 though!!

will 68 column work on a 69?

I have a 1969 D100 pickup with a slant 6 that is missing the column completely. It used to have a 3 speed shifter on the column as well. I bought the truck this way with the intent to fix it up. I need a complete steering column with 3 spd shifter on the column and steering wheel. I understand that ...

Hopefully it has an "A-318" Poly engine!!
Great engine and VERY similar to the new HEMI 5.7.

Are the exhaust ports evenly spaced like:
0-0-0-0
Is there a visible bolt on top of the valve cover on each end?

If yes to those 2 questions, you have a Poly!!

cutting / welding Dodge truck frames >> BEWARE

I heard that Dodge sweptline truck frames should NOT be cut or welded except for the front and rear 12 inches. This was due to the way the frames were made (heat treated). If you do cut or weld the frame you will weaken considerably the frame and it will not be safe.

Cummins repower

Congrats on your Swepty Cummins repower! I would LOVE to do that on my 66 W300. I could not do this myself. I contacted Charles at M-Series Rebuild at http://www.mseriesrebuild.com but they have a 2-3 year wait. They haven't done a Swepty conversion yet but are willing to do it. I have to think abou...

I'd say it's a '69

I'd say that it is at least a 1969. The Power Wagon emblem is on the fender, not the hood. That started in 69. Also, as noted, the hood is 69-71.
