Re: 80-84 disk swap

It looks like this would be an easy swap, just by looking at the link that Spdcrazy has posted above. It looks like he needs a chevy axle for parts and just take everything from the backing plates out. The link said it works for 3/4 ton but i wonder if he could use the same logic with a newer dodge ...

Re: 80-84 disk swap

Is the axle in the front an open or closed knuckle? If it is an open knuckle then you might be able to get the outer parts off of a '80s dodge and just swap the ends out from the knuckle out. But dont quote me on that. :Thumbsup

Re: 80-84 disk swap

You could go with a few different options like, dana 44 out of a 3/4 ton chevy. The 3/4 ton axle would give you disc brakes and if you upgrade you springs you can make that half ton into a real hauling machine. You could also go with the '80s fronts out of a ramcharger or a truck. :2cents :Thumbsup

Re: aux fuel tank?

You should consider a 22 gal. bronco tank that yo could mount under the bed in the rear of the truck. They will fit good were the spare tire goes under the truck. The plus side to this is they are a pretty cheap setup to buy, they are like $138 or somthing on amazon.com :2cents :Thumbsup

Re: One more of my odd projects!

This was a fire truck but i got it from my high school weld shop teacher who is a farmer too. He put a 16 foot flat bed on it. Basicly this will replace my compleatly gut shot d-300 for hauling scrap and towing my 3 axle equipment trailer. It was a dump bed but my old teacher sold the dump and the p...

One more of my odd projects!

I know its not a dodge but its ugly like me and its cool. Its a 1967 Ford C-550 1 1/2 ton truck. It has a 272 v8 with a 4 speed and a 2 speed rearend. It is in pretty good shape but it needs a little work. I just rebuilt the brakes and painted the rear wheels. The front wheels will be next for paint...

Re: 225 Head Gaskets woes...

You can pull the head without removing the manifolds. I would check the surfaces and make sure there not warped. If the surfaces are good i would replace the gasket and the bypass hose thet goes from the head to the water pump. Make sure you torque the head correctly. The torque is very important on...

Re: Transfer Case

Its not that hard of a swap really. The hard part is the jack shaft, You have to make one thats really short. My brother just got a 74' half ton power wagon with a short shaft and a divorced 205 from the factory. I thought that all the 73' and up trucks were a married unit t-case.

You could go with the dana 44 out of a 3/4 ton chevy. That would also give you disk brakes. :Thumbsup
