Re: 1970 and 71 tailgate decaL

Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I always thought the 70 and 71 tailgates were different. The 70 having the raised letters and the 71 having the flat panel with decal.

Re: clutch problem, please help!

So, I got the clutch disk back from the rebuild shop, it looks great (see pic). Was up until 1:00 am installing it and everything seems to work great, I think it just needs a bit of adjustment as it grinds some going into first or reverse. Thanks for all the help and info all!

Yes, which I know have their advantages, but I love the signature sound of a Dodge gear reduction starter. :Thumbsup

Re: New member, 65 W200 single cab long bed

To me, It seems a shame to do that to a Power Wagon. I would bet that there are far more 2WDs in existence than 4WDs. Just my :2cents but I think it should be sold or traded for a 2WD model.

Re: clutch problem, please help!

Thank you for the additional pictures. That explains alot! So you already have a 143 tooth flywheel for the 360? I'm guessing the disc is the only thing missing (which is what you told us in the beginning. ) Did HR Clutch have what you needed? Bucky Is 143 a common flywheel? if so then yes, i...

Re: clutch problem, please help!

Thank you all for the help/info. I was able to find a clutch assembly from a 66, now I see what the differences are. This truck is definitely running a 69 up bellhousing, nothing is welded to it, it has a plate with motor mounts sandwiched between bell and trans which is shown in previous picture. T...

Re: clutch problem, please help!

69-up trans might bolt to that bellhousing I suppose, but you're still left with the flywheel issues (balance AND the fact that bell uses a different flywheel than the 69-87 mechanical bells). Get the correct disc from HR Clutch & get a 61-68 318 flywheel balanced to your 360 then you're good to go...

That's the way all the std trans trucks were made from 61-68.
Thanks, I was not aware of that. So I am guessing that only 61-68 transmissions will work with it? Without major modifications of course.

Re: clutch problem, please help!

What flywheel are you using? :thinking You need a '62-'68 A/LA 318 hydraulic clutch flywheel and it would need to be balanced to work behind an LA360. The clutch disc/pressure plate/throw out bearing & pilot bushing can be had from: http://www.hrclutch.com You cannot mix post '68 mechanical clutch ...

clutch problem, please help!

Recently acquired a 318 powered 68 Power Wagon with no engine, but still has trans and bellhousing. The trans has a 1 inch 10 spline input shaft. Crossmember is in front of the trans rather than behind it. It has a 1/2 inch plate between trans and bellhousing, which mounts to crossmember. I installe...

Re: power wagon curious what its worth

If a 440, 440 will be casted in the block, believe on the driver's side. It's quick to tell from topside, 440 or "RB" blocks have a protruding stamped pad in the casting in front of the valley pan, which has the info. A 383 or "B" block doesn't have this, and the info is stamped on the flat surface...

The Spicer u-joint is ~$80 and the Neapco is ~$40. Is there that much difference? I suppose one may be Chinese and the other made in US? Thanks for the suggestion on the yoke. I'm not sure what is up with WIX filters lately, but i run them on all my vehicles, and every 51515 (fits most Sweptlines) that i have used said made in USA. However, some of the other ones that i used for other vehicles said made in Mexico. I guess they are in the process of transferring their whol...

Re: Ford 9in? Or beef up the 8.75?

I would run with the 8-3/4 and stay away from the four letter F word stuff. My 68 Coronet still has the 8-3/4, running a well built 383 and 727 that will about snap your neck on the one-two shift. I don't drive it modestly and have never broke anything. An experienced drag racer and former Dodge dea...

Re: lifting clarification questions

Like the old saying goes, if it's worth doing then it's worth doing right! 4" springs are usually a little over 4" to allow for settling, but, i don't know of anyone who makes springs for a 63. Ones for newer trucks can be made to work, but the 68 and earlier PW.s sat higher than most, so 6'' is pro...
