Re: Thinking about putting a later model automatic with OD behind my 1966 318 poly

Yes. Understood. But, left, right, hydraulic or mechanical still appear to have the afore mentioned bolt pattern issue.

Re: Thinking about putting a later model automatic with OD behind my 1966 318 poly

To clarify further, the bolt hole on the A series that does not align with the through holes on later manual transmission bell housings or automatic transmissions with integrated bell housings is the driver's side hole next to the locating pin (next to the starter). On a poly these holes (side to si...

Re: Thinking about putting a later model automatic with OD behind my 1966 318 poly

If "Hydro" only signifies mounting provisions for a hydraulic slave cylinder, Hydro has nothing to do with the bolt pattern in question. I can only say that the LA series block and the A series have a different bolt pattern at the rear bell housing flange (semantics aside) due to the single bolt hol...

Re: Thinking about putting a later model automatic with OD behind my 1966 318 poly

Unless I misunderstood, the question was in reference to differences between the A and LA bell housing bolt patterns. There is one bolt hole on an LA bolt pattern that is off from the A series. The result is that when the LA application bell housing is used on an A series engine, one bolt is left ou...

Re: Thinking about putting a later model automatic with OD behind my 1966 318 poly

It's not 100% identical as there is one bolt for the LA bell housing that is not used when mated to an A-series block (doesn't align with a tapped hole on the A series block).

Re: Rear glass

either cut too short or the fact that rubber readily compresses and stretches. Depending on your installation method, you could have a seal that is either too long or too short by the time you reach the end of the seal material.

Re: Moving Along, And New Stuff,....

.030" wire is pretty large for what you're about to do. .023" is the most-often used for sheet metal work. You'll have a lot less burn-through with the smaller wire diameter.

Re: New guy looking at a 69 Utiline

Wildcat is about 40 miles from me and is well known throughout the US as a great source for Mopar parts and the occasional complete car or truck. Their prices are typically higher than most but that is an accepted fact by most buyers as they usually have the parts a person needs. Depending on condit...

Re: No brake pressure

When you push the pedal do you hear anything like air bubbling in fluid? If so, I would check the push rod adjustment between the pedal and the master cylinder. If this is out of PROPER adjustment, you will never get the brakes adjusted.

Sounds like the coil although checking existing grounds (and all other connections) is a good idea.

Re: Decent single stage acrylic enamel?

I agree with twayne, single-stage urethane is great stuff. Very tough, easy to apply and not super expensive. How much paint was that? My truck will be a flatbed. How much paint will I need for the cab, engine compartment, etc., inside and out? 2 quarts? It's been a long time for me so I'm not the ...

Re: 1970 W200 Ebrake cables

I should clarify that for my 65 I could not find the long passenger-side cable anywhere (driver's side cables were all that the source had that I checked with). This is why I went to Control Cables.

I used Control Cables for the emergency brake cables on my early 65'. I sent them an original and they copied it for $35.

Re: Radiator options 1968 d200 with 318

Do you know what horsepower Champion claims this radiator will handle? Is it "an OEM replacement" or is it designed to provide cooling well beyond an OEM radiator? I assume the inlet and outlet are in OEM locations?

Thanks,

Re: Proform HEI conversion...

I haven't heard good things about Proform products but there are guys using them successfully. A cheaper route and one that is much better space-wise (the traditional HEI distributor body and cap are huge) is to use a stock Mopar electronic ignition distributor and add an HEI module (either to the u...
