1963 Townie with factory 4speed & /6. N.P. 420, Gear Vendors ??'s

Is anyone running one of these.? We'd like to do more hi-way driving without killing the engine. Rear end ration is a 3.91 according to the door tag. I know there's 'potentially' Dodge overdrive trannies out there but I'm unsure about spline counts and all the other stuff. I've searched over the las...

Plug gap for MSD 6AL? And diagram/advice on factory 1 barrel adjustments

Howdy, I've got an MSD box now and I'm looking for what others are doing for a plug gap.

Also, what are the correct screws for making adjustments to the factory 1 barrel (oil bath) carb.
Appreciate any help, and thanks for your time.

Cheers,
Cris

I need the correct spark plug gap for a /6 with MSD box & elect. distributor.

I've read it needs to be opened up, but to how far remains a mystery.

Thanks in advance!

Starter Solenoid bad 'out of the box', or am I an idiot?

or option 'C', all of the above. Howdy, I've gotten back onto my wife's '63 Townie with the mighty /6 & 4 speed. So I've replaced a bunch O' stuff without taking copious notes. MSD 6al with matching coil (still running stock distributor w/points), also the voltage regulator and ignition switch and b...

looking for a '63 Town Wagon wiring diagram.

Thank you in advance. Been doing the busy beaver thing printing off schematics & diagrams to work on the wife's truck. printed 6-8 of these and then noticed several had a disclaimer that they wouldn't work on Townies; assumed it's the lack of a fusebox that makes it a different colored horse.?. Spec...

Re: IGNITION SWITCH, ANY STUD VS. SPADES AROUND.?

Hey there, sorry I didn't see your reply kind of quit looking after a couple days. So that was back in late August and I'm still dicking around with this. Current plan (meaning I've already bought the parts) is to replace the factory with a Ron Francis switch. Also bought an MSD digital ignition box...

IGNITION SWITCH, ANY STUD VS. SPADES AROUND.?

Howdy, working on my wife's '63 Town Wagon. Only new ignition switch I can find thru NAPA has male spade terminals versus the OEM studs and nuts configuration. Is there a source for the original style.? I'd really rather not have to reconfigure the end of the wires (too damn hot outside!). thanks in...

Can't find the fuseblock on the wife's Townwagon.

Looked in the usual places, under the hood by the brake & clutch masters and up under the dash too. Not in the glove box either. Her truck is a '63. Searched for a spell the other night and read that some trucks didn't come with fuse blocks but was unsure of the years involved. Could her truck have ...

Re: Town Wagon, cowl vent functionality question. Now we have vent knob questions.

Well success has been achieved with minimal efforts. Taped off the cowl area and gently pried with a screwdriver while she pulled on the knob and BINGO, it popped right open. Lubed up the hinge points in the cowl area and under the dash where there's a like 90* thingey which we lubed up as well. Now...

Town Wagon, cowl vent functionality question.

Howdy, on my wife's 63 townie, we're unable to get the cowl vent between the wiper arms to open. Knob doesn't move but I'm not putting my foot on the dash for leverage either. :) What should my course of action be.? Going to assume it involves laying on my back staring up at the underdash area and g...

Cable operated heater control valve on fender help needed.

Howdy, the wife's '63 Townie is leaking coolant from this valve. It's cable operated and probably not correct for the truck (which I don't care about!). It was replaced once as I see two screw holes where the 'newer' part now lives. I'd love to know a parts store # for this valve that has the two sc...

/6 one barrel questions, won't restart.

I believe we ran it out of gas (no fuel when cranked with line to carb unhooked. Rope towed it back to the cabin as we were on a uphill section and couldn't get fuel into the tank. Now it's the next morning (morning fellas!), added some fresh fuel and we now have fuel when the feed line is disconnec...

Re: Buying a '63 Townie this week. /6 & other ?'s.

it's nice that your wife likes her manual transmissions. Mine is the same way. You could put a 4-speed manual overdrive from a 1970s pick up behind that 360 and drop it in, that would be a sweet combination! I drove a slanty powered four speed Town wagon as a daily driver for a couple of years in t...

Re: Buying a '63 Townie this week. /6 & other ?'s.

Nice score. I would paint the top and the bumpers white. It probably has 4.88 gears or something steep like that. I would get rid of the slanty and drop in a small block with an overdrive trans behind it. 225 cubes just isn't enuff. The wife insists on manual shifting, but this is non-4WD for now, ...

Re: Buying a '63 Townie this week. /6 & other ?'s.

63 Town Wagon uses same frame as the D/W Swepty pickups. You could do the conversion that has a long thread on this site. Various threads on this section.http://sweptline.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=20 Electric power steering is an option. :thinking :thinking I searched using first /6 then slant 6 t...

My pal Tim O'Brien of the bluegrass band Hot Rize & solo fame too wrote this song, "small up & simple down".

Recorded with good food, tequila (& washboard Chaz).

Was trying to just find the lyrics, no joy.

Re: So in 4 years i am gonna make a drastic change....

Howdy, we've been living in a small log cabin for over twenty years now here in Colorado . Think the Unabomber, but with satellite tv. 24 x 24 with a half loft upstairs, 12 x 24, about 720 s.f. total. Going to throw two words out here: 'fart space' . I went from a 2300 s.f. house to this shanty (aft...
