67-68 D300 front drums

Delivered a load of firewood this afternoon and the customer's father approached me and said he has a 67 or 68 D300 he bought years ago and never did anything with it. Dually with flatbed. I asked him if interested in selling and he said he would take $500 for it which got me interested. Claimed pur...

Re: rear main sel

Only just changed out the front seal and assorted gaskets. Engine side of the flywheel was dry so didn't touch the rear main seal. Used the truck this morning and could detect no oil leaks Life is good.

Re: rear main sel

Are you still running the canister style oil filter or a one piece? I'd be looking in that
area for starters. :2cents

No. Got away from that mess like 20 years ago.

Have ordered all the seals/gaskets/and rear main seal. Just have to now find the motivation the dive into it.

Re: rear main sel

Problem with the rope seal is the crankshaft apparently needs out to properly install. Not something I will do. Will check the PCV. Found a source for the newer style seal. Need to clean engine and try to pinpoint the massive oil leak before buying any parts. Seems to be coming from the right front....

rear main sel

1966 318A has started leaking oil from seemingly everywhere. Engine currently has the rope style rear main seal and wondering if the newer style seal can be used?

Re: np435 makes a lot of noise

I would suspect either the throw-out bearing or that large bearing that supports the transmission input shaft.

Re: Chrysler 273-V8

My sister purchased a Formula S, thinking a 1967, white notchback. The previous and 1st owner was a son of the local Chrysler dealership. The dealership installed a dual 4bbl manifold, swapped out the cam and went with headers. Susan drove that car for years. Only compliant she had was having to hav...

Re: 69 W200 Power Steering parts wanted

I seem to recall reading maybe 20 plus years ago that the power steering used on International trucks could be adapted fairly easy. That was a long time ago and if correct, what are the chances you can find an old IHC 4WD truck?

Re: Electronic Ignition conversion issues

Ballast resistor are all not the same, different ohms or something like that If the system requires one, and I for some reason think it does not, find out what the ohms valve for your resistor is and compare it to the valve for the HEI. The HEI module takes 12 volts if I correctly recall. You could ...

Re: poly motor question...

i put the spin on filter on my 65. someone on Facebook said i needed some kind of different reliefe valve under the one main cap because the spin on filter runs at a different DP then the canister style. says the spin on won't filter anything because it will go into bypass mode.. any truth to that? ...

Re: poly motor question...

My 66 had the canister filter. I replaced it years ago with the spin-on type. Easy to do. Just get that "part" between the block and new filter. Just a bolt on adapter the factory used. My 66 also has a balancer (NP435) so maybe the engines that had the manual got a balancer and engines with the aut...

Re: converting to power brakes 67 D100

This was like 15 years ago and can't recall what if any modifications but thinking it just bolted to the firewall. Clearance between it and the valve cover is minimal. Have yet to remove the valve cover but I think the cover will clear. I only put a thousand or so miles on the truck/year and some ye...

Re: converting to power brakes 67 D100

Years ago I used a power booster plus MC off of an early 1970 C30. All I had to do was extend that rod that connects to the brake pedal. Probably could have used the stock Chevy rod. Still have the truck and it still stops just fine.

Re: 318LA to 360LA

The only way I see this working is to have the poly flywheel rebalanced and using the poly starter. Rebalancing the poly flywheel and using it solves a lot of starter problems.

Re: 318LA to 360LA

I copied this from another forum: . 360 V8s are balanced externally on the flywheel. 2. 318 V8s are balanced internally on the crankshaft. 3. You can not use a 360 flywheel on a 318 or a 318 on a 360 because of 1. & 2. 4. 61-68 flywheels were .375" thicker so that they would clear the front flanges ...

Re: Should I do the Crown Vic Front Suspension?

From experience, loose wheel bearings and/or an over tighten steering box will cause this problem.

Tilting the axle back a few degrees may help the wandering.
