Re: It's a gas man! QUESTION (read on)

I layed the tank on its side so that the area I was welding wasn't submerged. If I remember, I will post a pic of the first tank I welded. It is strange that they all seem to crack in the same spot. Although, it dosent leak if you don't fill it up above the cracks.

Re: It's a gas man! QUESTION (read on)

I have seen several swepty cab gas tanks with cracks in them. About half way down on the side facing the seat. I tried repairing one with JB weld, but the gas dissolved it. Then I tried soldering it. It didn't stick. I ended up taking the tank out and filling it with water. Cleaned the cracked areas...

Re: What Flywheel

From the pics you posted, it looks to me that the flywheel you have on in the pics, is for a 68 and older bellhousing. Looks like it's too far back from the back of the engine. The bellhousing looks to be for a late 80s-90s pickups. Just my :2cents

Re: 4x4 conversion

I would do some measuring before in stalling. I'm not too familiar with the 80s era dodges, but some time in the 70s, dodge changed the fixed hanger location to forward of the front axle. You might be able to put them in without modifying the fixed hangers depending on the direction of the loops on ...

This one is the 69 that's been converted. It still has the D200 mounts with the loop cut off of the PW springs. The difference is in the height of the mount to accommodate the thicker leaf springs.

Re: 4x4 conversion

I would definitely put PW springs in the front. I left the 2wd springs in the front, steered horrible. Swayed bad in the turns. I changed them out to PW springs. World of difference. Still working on the pics.

Re: 4x4 conversion

Hobcobble, I looked at my friends 67 D200 and it has the same bracket as the PW. The 2 trucks I converted were a 69 D200 and a 70 D200. Maybe dodge changed them in the late 60s or maybe different assembly plants? I will try and post some pics of the different brackets.

Re: 4x4 conversion

I've noticed no one has mentioned that if you put power wagon springs in the front of a D series truck, you have to change the rear spring mounts. (Ex: torch or drill out rivets or cut off the loop on the 2nd leaf if you dont change out the brackets). The D trucks have thinner springs than the W tru...

Re: Power Wagon Fuel Economy

I must be doing pretty good with my 69 PW. If I drive mine like my dad drives his, I can get 12.5mpg with 4bbl 360 4spd 4.10 gears. Now my 77 w100 is another story. 383 auto 3.54 gears. 8mpg on a good day.

Re: Dodge Trucks in the movies and TVs

I know the movie Overboard with Kurt Russel has been mentioned before. Not sure if anyone has noticed, but there is 2 different crewcabs used in the movie. A D200 and a W200. The first time he pulls in the driveway, its a power wagon. He leaves to go pick up goldie hawn in a 2wd. Just wanted to poin...

Re: Side Markers

You can find used ones off 70s Era dodge vans. They are a little different. Mine were gone/broke. Went to wrecking yard and found some good ones off van. They use the same bulbs. Same bolt holes. They look oe to the untrained eye.

Re: newer aluminum 8 lug wheels fit?

I have a set of steel chrome wheels from a 97 2500 on my 69 W200 and they fit as if they were made to be on there. They dont rub when turning, but they are heavy wheels. My friend put a set of 08 2500 aluminum wheels on his 67 D200.
