Re: shifter question
Nope.....your original shifter will work just fine if you do not mind the hassle of shifting. When your shifter is in "D", you will actually be in first gear. 2nd gear will still be in the same position. When you have the shifter in low, your trans will now be in 3rd (or drive). You will have to mak...

Re: project: BLOWN SLANT
I am amazed and absolutely love what you have done. I do have a question. It looks to me like you could have a ton of stress on the snout of the blower which could possibly lead to a cracked intake manifold from the belt pulling down on it. I also noticed that there are 2 unused mounting holes and b...

Re: 413 Timing Question
Remove your distributor cap. Make sure your ignition is off or your battery is unhooked. Using a socket and breaker bar (or just using your hands if your compression is down) rock the crank pulley back and forth while watching the rotor. There should be almost no noticeable lag or play. The rotor sh...

Re: What kind of projects are in the works?
Mine is a 67 5 window pickup. I have swapped the doors to 68 since I like the inside door handles better. The engine is a 99 360 Fuelie Magnum that has had the heads replaced, thumping cam installed, computer replaced with the fancy one from Mopar Performance, and headers. The trans is the 99 OD uni...

Re: Power Steering Conversion
Thank you all. I just talked to a rep at Trail Gear and they have exactly what I needed, and it is on the way here. Rock and Roll. I have shimmed the pressure regulator in my pump down to about 800lbs, so I should have some sweet steering.

Power Steering Conversion
I know.....the subject has been beat to death. But I have taken the plunge and could use some help. I have just finished mounting a Toyota power steering gear in my 67 A100. The steering gear came out of an 81 Toyota 4x4 with a straight axle. It is the push/pull style and is a remarkably clean fit. ...

Re: aircondioning
Here is a link for the unit that I installed in my 67 A100. I replaced my factory heater box with the Hurricane 2000. The fittings for the A/C and the heater hoses go thru the floor and you get the choice of either cable operated or electronic. I chose the cable operated and it works great. The only...

Re: New Engine vs Old School
While racing on the dirt with a stroked smallblock, we are constantly changing the jets, timing, and fuel pressure as the nights go on and racing conditions change. The difference in performance as we make these changes is remarkable. This leads me to believe that our older carbed daily drivers with...

Re: Engine Swap 318-340
Dman.....all of your LA blocks are basically the same, with the 360 being the exception. The 273, 318, and 340 look the same, have the same main journals, and the same mounting ears. You have to know what you are looking for to visually tell them apart. They all also have a 3.31" stroke. The differe...

Re: Engine Swap 318-340
I have placed 3 340's where 318's used to reside, and the brackets on the engine have been a straight swap every time. The 360 is the oddball LA block with the different mounting ears. Good luck with your swap!

Re: the 72 might be a gonner
Another issue that you might want to check out is your grounds in the engine compartment. Make sure that there is a good ground from the negative terminal to the core support, and another good ground from the block to the firewall. I have had 3 trucks overcharge because of bad or missing grounds and...

Re: A100 Disc Brake Conversion...I need HELP
I had an interesting thought this evening. Since the disc conversions I have found will only work on the D and W trucks, why can't I swap the spindles/knuckles from a D100 to my A100 axle? I know that the king pins are the same, so I would assume that this would be no problem and it would give me th...

Re: A100 Disc Brake Conversion...I need HELP
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have already talked to those guys, and their conversion will only work on the D and W series pickups. I guess that the spindle on the A trucks is different. Also, they are no longer selling their conversion parts. I will post some pictures as soon as I am ab...

A100 Disc Brake Conversion...I need HELP
I am currently installing a 5.9l fuelie and trans from a 99 Durango RT in My 67 A100 pickup. I really, really, really want to convert the front brakes to discs. I have checked out just about every website known to mankind, and every one I find that has something listed is out of business or no longe...
