lookin good! is tha ta 4 barrel? how was the power increase?
It's a two barrel on a Super Six aluminum manifold. My seat of the pants dyno says that it helped a lot. The old one barrel carb was pretty worn.

Down by the river

My '61 at the car show last weekend. My wife's grandfather bought it new for his hay baler repair business and to haul everything under the sun for his farm.

Thanks to Phil Leonardson for the photo.

Re: Bruce Horkey Rear Bumper

Yes, the Chevy bumper shown below given that the factory Utiline bumper is (IMO) too small and doesn't cover the open end of the box and frame very well. I also like the style of the Chevy bumper but to each his own. - EM That looks nice! Did you also buy the mounting brackets? How did you manage t...

You might also look at LMC. I bought a an off-brand (painted) rear bumper from them for my Utiline. Great quality and price ($100) and I like it far better than the OEM style or design.

Do you remember which bumper you bought?

Re: Bruce Horkey Rear Bumper

Frame width for Horkney brackets may be an issue for the sweptline frame. Could always make your own brackets. :thinking Yes, it's a couple of inches wider than the sweptline frame, but that's OK - I can add a couple of spacers to make it fit. I'm just wondering in terms of appearance if anybody ha...

Bruce Horkey Rear Bumper

Has anyone tried Bruce Horkey's rear bumper on a Utiline? http://horkeyswoodandparts.com/page36.php (scroll to the bottom) It's designed for a frame 40.125", but I think that a spacer can make up the extra inch on each side. I have a receiver hitch on my '61 short bed utiline and it looks a little o...

Dash Dimensions

I'm working on a new dash for my 61 D100. I have access to some CNC equipment, so I thought that I'd do the work in a CAD tool, then let the mill do the hard work for me. Turns out that the hard work is getting the dimensions of the dash into the CAD software. I'm hoping that somebody has been throu...

Is there any sound deadening material available at local auto parts stores?
Wally, I'd look at a home improvement store - Lowes or Home Depot.

Re: Headliner Installation

A little nota bene here: I said that the Dynamat (or whatever alternative you find) is optional, but I really, really recommend that you use it. It will seriously quiet down the noise in your cab. And I mean seriously . Unless you're deaf or your religion doesn't allow the use of butyl rubber next t...

Headliner Installation

I installed a new headliner in my '61 shortbed utiline today and I thought that I'd share how I did it. There are probably other ways to accomplish this, but it worked for me and, most importantly, it was a one person job. Materials: Headliner fabric : Not OEM, not even close. I got some foam-backed...

61 shortbed ute with a slant six, 3.91, 8 3/4 rear and 27" tall tires. I get around 14 on average, mostly town driving. I need to change the rear end to get the RPMs down.

Re: Carpet kits

ACC is the only company producing the rubber carpet (full cab). I contacted the company that was selling the OEM style rubber mat ( to the seat only) several years back. They said there was not enough demand to have them produced at that time. They were selling them on ebay. The ACC one does not fi...

I'd make sure the return policy is right and your intentions are clear! I believe **NOT ALLOWED** has the flooring? Best 600 dollars I've spent in awhile and saving this truck is worth the butt chewing I'm gonna get for not telling the wife. My safe is full of guns that I didn't tell my wife about...at some point, one more just gets lost in the herd. I'm not quite there with trucks, though. It's gonna be a...

Re: Carpet kits

I'm not sure on the years, but I know that they make vinyl/rubber floors for them. That's what I'm going with I run into the same thing with the rubber floors, too - nothing pre-64. I'm assuming that it's because the specs that they got were from a '64 truck, so that's where the cutoff is. I guess ...
