Anyone want a Hemi Converted Dakota?

I wish I still had my swepty, because this donor truck would be perfect. Pull out the Hemi and 5 speed auto or just swap bodies. I don't know how the wheel bases compare but using everything from this Hemi Dakota would make for a great swap. Or drive as is, the bid is less than $3,000. http://i.ebay...

Re: 727 is knocking on Heaven's door...

That sounds just like the issue my truck has.

Should I get a large cooler and just put up in front of the radiator? Did you use threaded fittings or hose clamps?

Re: 727 is knocking on Heaven's door...

Locally it seems to be about $800-900 for a rebuild, more than half the value of the truck....

Re: 727 is knocking on Heaven's door...

If you don't have an external tranny cooler, get one. I had the same problem with my w200 ,383/727.I put a large factory auxiliary cooler on and got another 2 years out of the tranny .It never did fail completely,I just found a cheap replacement with low miles. :2cents It shifts great when it's cold...

727 is knocking on Heaven's door...

I need the truck as transportation (motorcycle as back up) and some time soon I'm going to need a cheap option to fix my tranny. The 727 in my truck is going ('70 383/727 2wd), it still behaves well most of the time but loaded up with motorcycles it has been slipping up hill on the freeway. I'm sure...

Re: Redneck Air Conditioner

I'm thinking that I can get everything contained in the cooler so the lid will shut tightly as usually. Everything will be self-contained and removable for each day for fresh ice. I won't modify the lid in any way. The air hoses will be sealed around the sides of the cooler with marine JB Weld so I ...

Redneck Air Conditioner

Hello Gentlemen. I picked up a $10 SAAB intercooler off of KSL that I'm thinking about using with an inline 12 Volt Boat blower motor to create an cheap air conditioner. The waterproof boat blower will use 3" ducting, either PVC or some intercooler couplers and pipes I have laying around. I figure I...

What axle should I start looking for?

I have my 1970 D100 2WD with the 727/383. I have no idea which rear axle I have, all the tags are gone. It looks like the "cheap one" with no removable pumpkin and no limited slip. My truck will do one-tire fires all-day. My passenger side seal has going bad again and the axle looks to be just about...

Re: part throttle issue, quick help please.

Do you still have a Checker Auto? All the ones in AZ are now O'Reilly. Jim You're right, I still call it a checker rather than Checker O'Reily. BTW, the truck is still not 100% happy. I figure that the current 10-15% ethanol blend at the pump isn't helping either. I turned out the carb screws a 1/4...

Re: part throttle issue, quick help please.

I remembered the old high school auto shop trick and I checked for any arcing by letting the truck idle in the dark. I didn’t seen any problems. I replaced the ignition coil and the plugs last night, switched to the Champions this time. The coil seemed to be leaking a bit of oil at the plug so I fig...

Re: part throttle issue, quick help please.

Check out the plugs, guess which plugs are the rear cylinders.

Feed back? These have about 8,000 miles on them, they are cheap Autolites.

Re: part throttle issue, quick help please.

I think it's just an ignition miss. So what would cause a part throttle, low load miss. It smooths out at higher RPMS. Is the vacuum advance not working all that well maybe, would that cause a studder?

part throttle issue, quick help please.

Hello Gentlemen. It's been two years since I pulled my sweet swepty out of the field and got her running. My truck is a 1970 383/727 with the stock Carter 2b. Lately the truck has been missing at part throttle. Initially it started off idle but now it's up to about 2100 RPMs. For the last couple yea...

Borg Warner T-56 Adapted?

So my truck has been great as a daily driver for about a year and a half now. She has a 383 with a 727. I just put an ebay alminum radiator in her and she finally runs nice and cool. I want to use the truck for some local road trips and I want to go places at 75-80 MPH possibly pulling a trailer. An...

Re: Bumper Options?

Thank you again Gentlemen. I'll post a side by side pic for future reference. That Ford bumper is cheap and looks almost the same. BTW, my wife ends up driving the pickup more than I do. No power anything or A/C and she loves driving it. She's cute and the truck is old, I think she likes all the att...

Re: Bumper Options?

I'm guessing you have to make brackets for the Ford bumper correct. Anyone have a pic of one on a swepty?
