I have a slant six bored 40 over and two 1 barrel carters with the 833 with bell housing and flywheel off a 86 I swapped the clutch bearing for a hydrolic one and truck runs great and gets decent gas mileage. Over drive is fine on straight a ways but uphill grades seem to give me trouble in OD

check for a dead short positive side of battery to ground check the resistance
I went thru the same thing . Took me 2 days of chasing wires til i found the short

a833 with overdrive and a 323 rear works well for me /6 getting over 20 miles to the gallon

when i brought my truck it had no wipers i ended up buying three sets ofthe transmission arms and linkages and still could not make it work properly. Was looking at somebody elses post with pictures and relized previous owner put motor in upside down!! only took me 3 months to get wipers working
