I had a REALLY close call in the old truck the other day..
This past Monday I decided to drive the old W100 to school, then work. I go to school in the mornings, and in the afternoons I work at what used to be the oldest Dodge dealer in the Country, John P. Hughes Motor Co., until the geniuses at Chrysler decided to shut down John P. Hughes in 2009. So now ...

Re: NP 205 speedo gears
I'm in the exact same situation with my W100. It had 4.10's and I swapped them out for 3.55's. The speedo is now about 15mph off. I believe I have read somewhere that on np205's you can't just change the outside gear. You have to also change the inner gear which involves tearing down the whole T-cas...

Re: Who went to Carlisle?
I just got back home from Carlisle! What a long day!! (I just went for the day) I looked for Wally but I didn't see him :thinking. :pale I did see his truck though. It looks really good for a mostly original truck! I actually didn't get to meet any fellow swepty enthusiasts :pale . But I guess that'...

Re: Carlisle, just days away
Wally- no I'm not entering my truck. I doubt I'm even going to drive it. I'm still trying to work the bugs out of my carburetor. I actually have a thermoquad on it now and it runs almost perfect, but It's a pain to start when it's hot. I think I know what's wrong with it, I just need to tinker with ...

Re: Truck shakes after take off..
I never heard about it before until digdoug told me about it  My W100 is the only divorced T-case truck around here that I know of, so I dont know of anyone locally that is knowledgable about them. But like I said, my truck has had the shakes ever since my Dad and I have had it. But it was sure...

Re: Truck shakes after take off..
digdoug, I did what you told me to do and....the problem is solved!! I cant believe how simple a fix it was! My rear driveshaft was actually off by about 1 spline, so I had to unbolt it from the rear end and fix that. The center shaft was off by a little bit, so I aligned it by a level to the rear d...

Re: Truck shakes after take off..
It does not have the rubber center support. I had a d200 that had that. My W has a straight, splined drive shaft.
So how do you go about "phasing" the 2 drive shafts together?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Truck shakes after take off..
The rear diff carrier beatings were replaced when the 3.55's went in. And all of the u joints on the truck have been replaced about 4 years ago and have been kept well greased and are still tight. But the driveshaft could be out of balance

Truck shakes after take off..
My 69 W100 shakes pretty bad after i take off and I'm moving along in 2nd gear. (NP 435 4 speed). The shake is not when I am on the clutch, although it shakes there too, but I know how to fix that. This shake is, like I said, after I let out the clutch and I'm in 2nd or 3rd gear. It only shakes when...

Re: Cab Swap
Another Virginian! :welcome I know from experience that it is very hard to find even a "mostly rust free" sweptline here in Virginia. I have had 5 different native Virginian sweptline parts trucks, and I am looking at getting another one soon, and they all have had terrible rust in the cabs. Some in...

That blue bed looks familiar to me too! I think it's because I have a 69 D100 parts truck sitting behind my garage that is the exact same faded old blue!

Re: what is the best gear ratio for a 400 goin to 36 inchers
I'm not sure what gear ratio I would go with . It really just depends on your driving style and what you intend to do with the truck. And I'm sure you could make the 36's fit with no lift, but you might have to shave the fenders a considerable amount, and it might not be pretty.

Re: what is the best gear ratio for a 400 goin to 36 inchers
Yeah, I know what ya mean. It looks like on the chart that 4.11's would work. But of course, that is border line geared a tad too high, so it wouldnt quite have the low end grunt as say 4.56's. But you would be able to cruise down the highway at a decent rpm and get better gas mileage than a lower g...

Re: Rear End Locked Up
My truck turned 2600 rpm at 70 mph. Not sure what that ratio would be. Sounds like 3.23's to me. I have 3.55's with 31inch tall tires and I turn 2650 at 65mph. This is assuming that you have smaller tires than I have. If not smaller by much, then you probably have 3.55's. But this is just a guess. ...

Re: Rear End Locked Up
I would highly doubt that the problem would be anything other than something that gave way in the center of the rear. But like wideblock said, replacing the center "chunk" would be the easiest way to go. Basically, the axles unbolt from the outside (5 bolts per side behind the drums), and then the c...
