I can light em up in first if i get rolling and mash it. But its like the converter comes on at 1300rpm. I can barely keep it idling in gear, which i find to be a problem.

Yes, typically between 1500-2200 rpm. There's no vibration at higher rpm, and I haven't changed anything on the engine except the clutch. Though that rpm in 3rd gear doesn't seem present, note in 4th, just a noticeable hum at higher speeds

my 318, though not stock, with 3.91's and an od tranny just pulled 12.2mpg, and thats with a lot of hills and city running. my mpg sucks because of my carb, its a demon 650 mechanical secondaries double pumper, if it didnt run so well i'd probably bolt on an afb and get closer to 14-15

you might have to change the spindles, the bearings are probably bigger. i would find a 1/2 ton and take all the suspension from it, plus the van lower control arms and go from there

unless the control arms are different, you should be able to buy 1/2 ton springs and 5 lug rotors. And if you want it lowerd, get van lower control arms. you have to enarge the hole where they bolt to the frame.

if your super worried you could get some lock nuts. the end is kind of ovaled, or nylocks would work. Lock washers too

you'll have to get the grill re anodized if you do try and fill the dings.
