Re: NP435 OR NOT
Ya I have the bellhousing. From what I have researched 4th gear in the 435 is the same as 5th gear in the 540.is that true?

NP435 OR NOT
Ok so I'm building a 64 short wheel base 4x4 truck. I'm putting a 440 in the truck. I have a np435 and a 540 transmission. The truck has 4.10 gears and the 201 transfer case. I'm wondering how many of you have a big block with a np540 and do you like. Should I use the stock np435 or the np540? Thanks

Re: Big Block Flywheel Question
I'm friends with local guy that scraps. He buys junk iron from local farmers. He knows that I Collect dodge trucks so he lets me take parts off before he sells the iron. The only cost I will have is in the spacer.

Re: Big Block Flywheel Question
Ok so today I decided to pull a 318 with a 4 speed and a bellhousing with dual clutch fork holes. The motor and transmission were removed from a street sweeper. After removing the bellhousing and the I noticed that it had a 13inch clutch. So I removed the clutch and pressure plate and I notice that ...

Re: Big Block Flywheel Question
I agree that nobody will want to separate a 383 flywheel from their assembly. That's why I'm going to check into seeing what it costs to have a flywheel made.

Re: Big Block Flywheel Question
I have bolted a 68 318 flywheel up to the steel crank 440 for mock up. The 318 crank has the right offset to clear the big block bell housing and the bolt holes line up. The problem is its not big enough in diameter so the starter will engage. So I'm wonder why can't a machine shop mill a new flywhe...

Big Block Flywheel Question
I have three big block hydraulic bell housings, starters, flywheels, and dust covers all removed from the big dodge trucks with the 361. I'm wanting to put one of those setups in a 66 sweptline with a steel crank 440. Of course the flywheel won't work because the 361 had the longer crank to clear th...

My daily driver is a 67 crewcab powerwagon with a slant six. It was a US Navy truck before going to a fire department in western Nebraska. I've been thinking of selling it to fund 62 dart build.

Re: Help with Braden LU2 Winches
That is what I thought. I know somebody that works in a factory that has a press brake. He said that they could bend the 90 degree angle to what I need. The one winch that I bought had one of the brackets on it. I will have them bend it to that degree. Now if I could just get the FTD-7 pto.

Re: Help with Braden LU2 Winches
Thanks for the help. I have the winch rebuilt and the frame extensions made. From my research the winch sets at an angle. To achieve this it looks to me that the angle iron brackets need to be less than 90 degrees. Is this true? Thanks

Help with Braden LU2 Winches
I recently bought two braden LU2 winches off craigslist. The winch on the left in the picture is labeled LU2-33-L 6912149. The winch on the right in the picture is labeled LU2-10F-R 7111041. Both winches have the shaft that the pto hooks up to pointing the same direction. I wanting to make sure that...

Re: Transmisson mount help
What is the center to center spacing of the holes. I have an extra mount but I don't know if it is 6" or 8" on the metal part. I can check tomorrow if I know what the spacing is. I will check the measurement tomorrow. I'm thinking about putting a cross member out of a 74 era being how a new mount f...

Transmisson mount help
I'm needing a transmission mount like this one. Found it on e-bay for $95.00. Is this the only place to get this mount? If anyone has a cheaper source please let me know. Thanks in advanced.

Re: Hydro Bellhousing
The owner thought it was a 66. The distributor was in front like a 361 and a decal on the valve cover said 361. The heads were different then any 361 or big block I've seen. The water pump and housing wasn't like a R or RB either. Perhaps the heads and water pump assembly were different on the big t...
