"In the 80's one of the bars in Gainesville would have a midget tossing contest."
Bucky
No midget throwing contest anymore but they do have a bar with hatchet throwing. Thanks for the explanation of the crankcase ventilation.

Re: Truck Died
Bucky, That explains the fitting on the carb then. I need to figure out if the elbow on the Driver side valve cover IS the PCV valve. I'm not sure what advantage there is to bypassing the air cleaner and the PCV valve except for maybe the engine breathes a little better? I live right in downtown Gai...

Re: Truck Died
Anyone know what the capped off black hose at the bottom left of the carb is for. Original owner put a short piece of plugged black hose on it. It has 2 hose clamps on it. I dont see any logical place for it to attach. Looks like a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) line. Do you have a PCV on one...

Re: Truck Died
Checked the truck this morning. Intake manifold valleys were full of gas. It was dripping out the throttle body shaft. It used to drip a small amount but not like this. I checked the ballast and it was 0.6 ohms resistance so that seemed ok. Cleaned the distributor cap and rotor. The points had spark...

Not alot of places to pull over in Alachua County either. Those roads have NO shoulder, or they didn't 35 years ago. Bucky Yeah Bucky, it wasn't pretty. Friday afternoon rush hour. If you're familiar with the area; I was on Newberry road making a left onto 8th ave. In the outside turn lane. Traffic...

Re: Truck Died
Bummer, John! in this order: 1. +12 at the coil 2. dwell, then points and condenser, rotor and cap 3. coil Thanks Terry, I'm charging the battery tonight and I'll tackle this tomorrow. Feeling kinda dumb while realizing I haven't had to do much to this truck in years. I've forgotten how to work on ...

Truck Died
Truck was running beautifully today. Took a 30 mile ride. While sitting at a light, it just died. Tried starting and it just cranks with out any firing at all. Got towed home, checked carb and gas it coming out when pumping accelerator. There is a leak around the shaft in the carb but thats been the...

Re: 66 Drag Link for Steering
I think you are looking for MOOG part # DS 653. They should be available for about $150 new. Also, Vintage Power Wagons has them new but $325.

Thanks Ozzie. I think I'm going to try to find a NOS one if I can narrow it down to the correct MOPAR part number.

Master Cylinder
1970 W200 W/booster power drum brakes. I want to replace my master cylinder rather than rebuilding it again. It is the original master and has seen better days. I have a parts book but I am having trouble picking the correct part number. One is part #2952130. I initially thought this was the correct...

Re: What do you do with your sweptline today?
Checked the fuel tank sending unit and ended up replacing the brass float. I was getting inaccurate readings and thought maybe the variable resistor was bad but found the float with a crack and filled with gas. Reads correctly now. I dug out an NOS sending unit just in case but wasn't needed. That's...

Re: Washer fluid foot pump
[/quote] Car pumps Ive seen can be adapted but are not close to the same as original truck pump. Ive done just that in my 66 W100. Used an early 70's Mopar A Body floor pump and mount. :thinking [/quote I was thinking that the actual rubber part of the pump might be able to be exchanged out on his t...

There are several used ones on the auction site. Also pretty sure some of the automobile foot pumps are the same as the trucks.

Driveshaft spline dust boot
Were there ever driveshaft spline dust boots on either D or W series trucks from the factory? Dana Spicer has this: Boot Spicer 211344X and was wondering if this is aftermarket?
Thanks
John

.010 intake and .020 exhuast. For a pre 73 motor use .012 Intake and .022 exhaust to avoid burning valves. This is what showed up on a Google search. This site gives specs for just about everything on the slant motors: https://www.allpar.com/threads/an-insane-number-of-mopar-slant-six-engine-specifi...

Re: 1971 D100 questions
Original owner of the truck bought the FSM at the same time as the truck in 70. Mine doesn't have the addendum. It ends with specifications and "tightening' values. Maybe later editions had the additional sections.

Re: 1971 D100 questions
martincom,
What section in the FSM are you reading the info about tanks? I've looked all through mine and can't find anything about fuel tanks. Plenty of info under the "fuel" section about carburetors but nothing on fuel tanks and/or sending units.

Re: 1971 D100 questions
Doesn't matter if it reads full when its not. You know its full when you fill it to the top of the fill pipe. Empty is what matters cuz that's what strands you on the road. You had to go make sense of this just when I thought I had another project  I'll take it out and measure the ohms anyway ...

Re: 1971 D100 questions
Terry, I'm almost positive its correct. I know the truck well and knew the original owner. I'm the 2nd owner. The truck is about as factory original as any I have seen. Truck was always garaged since new, serviced by him exclusively and so on. He kept a ledger book of every time he did anything at a...
