Re: hood hinges

come up with a fix and tell us. I have 1.25 inches worth of shims to bring the back of hood down, no lie. Ive tried EVERYTHING and this is the only thing that works. Either my hood is bent, or hinges are bent or worn. Appears the rivets get wallowed out over time. If you open the hood and move it u...

Re: front fender

I think I posted my question in the wrong place before. I am trying to remove the front fender on my 69 D100. All of the bolts are out, but there seems to be some kind of fastener at the cowl where it meets the fender. Do I have to remove the door and the hinge pocket?? Up on your kick panel, there...

Poly 318 Exhaust Manifold

Seems like I saw someone fabricated a nice exhaust manifold for poly 318 in a forum on here some time ago. After searching for over an hour, I cannot find it. Looking to replace my exhaust manifold, and possibly everything to the muffler also, as economically as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks. 19...

Re: Ballast Resistor Question

I have burned up two 1.3 ohms resistors in the last two weeks. Put the pertronix several months ago and am now burning up resistors. I bypassed the resistor all together a few days ago and the truck ran fine until today. I turn the key and have nothing. I am thinking that the coil is burned up. Befo...

Re: A-100 Gastank Venting Problem

This may be a no-brainer, but does anyone know where to purchase a gasket for around the filler tube? Other than a junkyard?

Correction (no link to delete posting): I found the website http://www.restorationspecialties.com/dodgetruck.htm

Re: A-100 Gastank Venting Problem

Some kids messed around with my truck and wiggled the gas cap loose. While driving down the road I heard something fall and roll. Not knowing what it was I kept on going. Searched and hunted for it with no luck. Purchased one from NAPA (part #7031110) but for the life of me could not get it to lock ...

Re: The Big Cross-Country Trek

Would like to thank everyone that made a comment/suggestion, especially Hobcobble. I needed the voltage regulator 60 miles west of Salt Lake City. The only other problem experienced was in Casper, WY. I had a rubber washer on the oil filter cannister bolt that melted and spewed oil onto the muffler....

Re: The Big Cross-Country Trek

Thank you all for your comments. I appreciate Cuda offering to help. Almost makes me think to jump on down south for this road trip. Purchased the ballast resistor and voltage regulator, but one question: how will I know when to change out the voltage regulator or ballast resistor? Will the truck si...

The Big Cross-Country Trek

Haven't been on here in awhile because my '64 200 has been running incredibly well. Changed out the Stromberg with a Carter and put in a Pertronix unit and it is smooth. I am moving to Utah to do some graduate program at a college. It is roughly 900 miles from Dickinson, ND to Provo, UT. We are goin...

Re: Dodge Trucks in the movies and TVs

Watching "The Last Detail" with Jack Nicholson the other day and saw what looked like a '66 D100 in the 8th minute. Not Jack's best film but worth seeing the first 8 minutes just for a look at another Swepty.

Re: 62 D200-Fires but dies right away

Replace the ballast resistor because it is a cheap part and eliminates (or should at least) a possible issue. Check the fuel pump like several have mentioned. I've done this using a Mason jar and the wife turning over the ignition. Have the carb overhauled. Experience with my Stromberg WW is that it...

Re: Help with carburetor replacement.

Just talked to Pony Carbs and will have them rebuild my Stromberg. They got a really good business model. Pricey, absolutely, but a good working carb sure would help this old truck purr, and that is worth the extra. :Thumbsup Thanks for the reference.

Wow, Trey, I really like these Pony Carb guys. Their video really sells their services. Have not called them yet, due to the weekend, but maybe you or someone could answer a question about this link: http://www.ponycarburetors.com/default.asp?page=restoreandcore Is that Holley 2300 (Tri-power), or a...

Failed to mention that back in November a compression test was done. All but one valves came in at 125 psi. The one had a 120 psi. :thinking

Re: Just when I thought it was all going so well

Thank you, Dave, for the info. I am going to see this through one way or the other. I think that the ignition system is in need of the ole Pertronix upgrade. This will be first on the agenda. This will lead me to a few other routes. The valve seat idea is what may keep me up at night though. I don't...

Re: Too cold to start

Couldn't agree more with Robin about gas not freezing until well past -100; however, nowadays people had the bright idea of putting water in gas and calling it ethanol. If you are using E10 fuel then it is possible that the water content in the fuel is freezing. Stay away from that crap. :2cents
