Re: clearence lights???good-bad???

I like the clearance lights on mine, but if you install them be sure to mount them far enough back that they don't shine down on the windshield. Mine has the lights from an old IHC and I had to put chrome tape on the bottom of the lens to keep the glare off the windshield.

Re: Whatever happened to shortstack?

I remember him from when I first got on here. Seemed like a decent kid to me, really got to respect a someone that young that thinks of working to buy a truck instead of sitting around playing video games all day. Hope he's doing well.

I'm thinking after reading all that, she'll keep you. As long as you keep the truck.

Re: new member (intro) with a new toy

I know what I would do and it wouldn't involve modifying the bed or the frame. A couple of chrome exhaust stacks would fit nicely between the cab and the bed, and the chrome wouldn't interfere with the smooth lines a bit.

That sounds like a bad 4 way flasher. Try changing out with the t/s flasher and see if the 4 ways work then.

Some significant changes to note: 1)Door latches/strikers changed for the '67 year model Clarify here as I'm confused. The 67 I stripped and took to the crusher had the old style fridge door handles and looked to me like it was the same strikes and latches as the 66 back. Could that perhaps be one ...

Re: How many of you wished they repopped these???

Now with all the rumors about Dodge trucks becoming Ram, looks like the better part of my fleet could be orphaned. Does that mean they're worth more? First point. Not a rumor. Dodge Truck Division is now Ram, to separate the trucks from the car brand (making it easier to sell off). Dodges will be c...

Re: A/C for our trucks

Couple other advantages to COE, lighter weight and added manueverability because of less wheel base. Downside in my line of work, not enough frame to mount toolboxes for tools and such I need.

Re: Not a Swepty,Still a Dodge

2wd Ramcharger has a bit more weight than the average pickup on the rear so it ought to do alright when the freezing stuff is on the roads. Tire chains can make up for some of what's missing not having a front drive axle, the only thing it will lack is ground clearance, and that will only be needed ...

Re: Chevy front frame clip? Forgive me, Lord.

Not sure about the all the 80s, but late 70s and early 80s GM truck front suspension unbolts from the frame, so it wouldn't be too mean a trick to modify to a different frame. On the other hand, a K frame from a Mopar car might be just as easy to modify to an existing frame, and the torsion bars are...

I got a J20 also, only it had bad bearings in the 401 and long story short, over a decade and it almost has a 360 in it now. One of these days... Even with the bad bearings it was one of the hardest pulling trucks I've ever driven, as long as it's on an even surface. Stiff suspension and open diffs ...

Re: A/C for our trucks

Being the old trucker I am, it will probably get the 5 speed. Trucks just look better when they have a lever on the floor. Or two. Heck, if one has enough wheel base to mount the brownie in front of the divorced t case, make it four levers. If I could have found the parts when the trans went bad in ...

Re: steering column

Saginaw tilt columns were used by GM, Chrysler, and AMC from the 70s to ???. There are a few minor diferences between the column, mostly in cosmetics, but they are so similar that you can even interchange the ignition lock cylinder between the three.

:thinking Can't say for certain about the 70's. These were off my 68 W 200 with the 383 valve covers 1.jpg From what I've seen on period R motors in the yard this is what they had if they had A/C. If they didn't have a/c I've seen several variations, but the one Sweptline that I would think was the...

Did the needle come out with the brass fitting? If it didn't you will probably need to take the top off the carb to retrieve it. If it did come out look to see that it didn't wind up somewhere that you can retrieve it and reinstall it. If you cant find the needle you can always buy a new needle and ...

Hate these foreign cars all you want, but if you don't have the luxury of buying a new car every 5 years, Japanese is the way to go! I have to disagree. I don't have the luxery of replacing a vehicle every year, that's why I drive Mopars from the 70s. The family cruiser is the 75 Duster, and lookin...

Re: Found a 71 LB D100 destined for the crusher

Pretty easy to mount a four speed side loader behind a slant six, lots of A bodies and pickups came that way from the factory in the 70s. Usually they used an OD our speed, to help the fuel economy. Don't know for certain but I think the 883 will bolt right up where the 3 speed came out.

I guess we're hijacking the thread here, but that's the way it goes. I've thought about a Cummins conversion since the VFD got a brush truck with one in it, first thought was for my 50 Chevy 3800 as that was my daily driver when the VFD got theirs. This summer I got a 76 D300 club cab dually pickup ...
