Re: Thank you Scarebird

I did this conversion 2 years ago and the truck stops every bit as good as my 91 d100 did. I didn't add a porportioning valve and have't had the rears lock up yet mind you i also havn't had to do a panic stop either. On the same note i have had several of my pickups over the years that if you had th...

Re: Single vs Dual Field Alternator.....

Hobbcoble i had the same orange wire hanging behind the alternater and could'nt figure out where it went this was on a 71 d100 with 383/727 ac,ps,pb truck originaly from New Mexico. I checked a 71 d200 383/727 that i had and it looks like the wire went to the vacuum advance cannister on that one IIR...

Re: power steering for my 61

Scott i know how you feel about the hydraulic assist steering and mine was starting to get that way also but after i adjusted the steering box it got a lot better. I think i'll spend a little more time and adjust it a little more and keep trying it until i get it where there is a bit of road feel. I...

Re: Building a new drag link?

Scott if all you are doing is taking off the power steering drag link you can just install the non p/s one in it's place. The pitman arm on the box is s shaped for clearance for the valve on the p/s drag link but it will still work with the standard one. Also for reference you can also use the p/s a...

Re: D300 Disk Brake Conversion

I don't know offhand if the axle itself is any wider than the sweptline one but the leaf springs on the front are 3" wide. The frame looks just like the ones on the sweptline 1tons but has a power steering box mounted in front of the axle that stands up to mate up with the forward steering position ...

Re: D300 Disk Brake Conversion

If you look around you should be able to find a mid 70's motorhome that has the disc brakes on the straight front axle. I have a 76 winnebago frame and running gear sitting out back with the disc setup and it looks like it would be easy to put in an older sweptline other than the wider leafs on the ...

Re: STRAIGHT AXLE POWER STEERING

I don't think 600.00 is all that expensive when you look at what comes with their kit and think of the engineering behind it. Not to mention the liability they are putting on line. Just my 2 cents. junkyarddodge
