Starting to set up the slant 6 in my 1970 1/2 ton after a rebuild.
What are you guys running for initial timing on your slant 6’s?
I’m on the edge of the Rockies so I’m at a decent altitude which I realize can be a factor.

Re: Bumper paint colour
Thanks gents. I did read somewhere that the heavy duty style bumpers were an available factory option starting in 1970, but I’m not sure if that is correct.

Re: Front signal lights
Thanks. And I’m assuming clear bulbs as well, not amber?

Front signal lights
The front signal light lenses in the grille of my 70 1/2 to are not in great shape, but the lenses appear to be clear plastic. Looking at photos online I see some trucks with clear lenses, and some with amber. I’m curious what colour of plastic lenses are correct for a 70 as I will likely buy replac...

Bumper paint colour
I’m going to sandblast and paint the rear bumper on my 1970 1/2 ton. My truck has the silvery grey checker plate top style bumper. What colour are you guys repainting this style of bumper? I’m thinking an aluminum colour would be too metallic, but a grey would be too flat. Any suggestions on a colou...

Hand brake spring
I’m finally re installing my parking brake lever and cable on my 70 1/2 ton after a full restoration. For some reason I can’t find the photos I took of the handbrake lever before I disassembled it and restored the parts. Can anyone help me out with a photo or description showing where this long spri...

Rubber floor
The original rubber floor in my 1970 1/2 ton is broken into several pieces and is unusable unfortunately.
Does anyone reproduce rubber floors for our trucks? If not, what are you guys and gals using instead?

Mirror arms
I’m looking for a set of factory correct mirror arms for my 1970 1/2 ton. I know they can be hard to find, and in the past there were companies reproducing them (mine will be painted white, so I don’t need chrome arms). Does anyone know of any companies still reproducing mirror arms, or does someone...

Re: Exhaust help
Thought I’d post an update and thank everyone for they’re inputs. Waldrons exhaust company has gone radio silent on me so I will have to sort out my exhaust myself, which won’t be super hard but defeats the purpose of buying a ready made exhaust for my truck so that I could bolt it on and go. Obviou...

Re: Exhaust help
So in my discussion with Waldron’s they are saying that because my truck is a Canadian made 1970 dodge 1/2 ton, vs a US made truck, that the exhausts are different. Does anyone know if that is true? I thought there is very little difference between a truck made in Ontario, vs one made across the wat...

Re: Exhaust help
I didn’t see an obvious diagram in the FSM, but I’ll go back and look. The exhaust system came with a nice tubular style stock muffler which is nice. The good news is that I can plumb from the manifold to the muffler for now, and then I can start the engine and drive the truck as the box is not back...

Re: Exhaust help
My truck is a long bed, which is one of the questions they asked me but I’m guessing the same thing, the exhaust is for a short bed. Pretty easy to add a pipe for length as the exhaust system is in several flanged pieces for shipping. Which is why it would be great to see where the muffler should go...

Exhaust help
I’m just putting the finishing touches on my 1970 1/2 ton, slant 6 truck and am about ready to fire it up after a full restoration. For the sake of ease as I have several other projects on the go, I ordered an exhaust for my truck from Waldrons out of the US which I was told does great stock exhaust...

Re: Exhaust question
So I went to my local auto repair shop owned by a friend and he said they would be happy to make me up a stock exhaust.
He wanted me to do some research on a muffler; what do you guys recommend for a modern replacement for a stock looking and sounding muffler on these old trucks?

Exhaust question
I’m looking for a full exhaust for my 1970 1/2 ton slant 6.
Is there a full out of the box exhaust for our trucks?
I was able to find a full exhaust for my 1940 dodge 1/2 to , but I’m not having as much luck finding o e for my 1970.
