Re: radiator that cools sufficiently
I'm saying it's over heating because of the high temp indicated on the gauge and violent boil over if I remove the radiator cap. I've tried the things you mentioned. It's OK up to when the outside temp is in the low 90's. If it turns out to be the radiator I'm wondering if anyone has successfully us...

radiator that cools sufficiently
I have a 69 a 108 with a slant six ,727 trans. I live in Texas and have trouble with over heating. I have had the original radiator re-cored but that wasn't good enough for Summer driving. I think I need either a radiator from a van with a 318 v-8 ( which would be hard to find in good condition) or ...

spark plug heat range
I have a 69 A108 van with a slant six 225. Can anyone provide a chart that shows the heat ranges of plugs that fit this engine? I have what are supposed to be the standard plugs in it now (champion N11Y}. When it gets up to normal temp it pings like crazy so I think I need a cooler plug. Also, does ...

I have a 1969 A 108 van with a 225 six. I have what I think are the standard spark plugs ,champion N11Y. When it gets to normal operating temperature it pings like crazy. I think I need cooler plugs but I'm having trouble finding what plugs are available and how they compare to each other as regards...

slant 6 oil pan install
Can anyone give me some tips on installing an oil pan on a slant6? What kind of sealer is best? Bolt tightening? Cork or rubber etc? I've installed the #!*#!! twice and it leaked both times from the sides and the ends. Is there an obvious common mistake that I'm missing? Thanks for the advice.

8 3/4 rear axle installation
I'm having trouble installing the axles into a 8 3/4 differential in my '69 A-108 van. All new bearings, seals and gaskets. I installed the left axle completely with no problem. It slipped right into place and I tightened the flange nuts . Then I went to the right side which is the one with the adju...

differential flange gaskets installation
I have a 1969 A 108 van with a 8 3/4 " differential. Identical gaskets go on both sides of the plate that the brake mechanism is attached to. They are made of thin metal with a ridge around the diameter ( or a groove if viewed from the other side). What I want to know is which way the ridges on the ...

differential interchange
I posted this in the van section also. Does anyone know what differentials will interchange with a 8 3/4" on a 1969 A 108 van with a slant six and auto trans? The door tag says it's a chrysler RA 36. Thanks.

I have a 1969 A108 auto trans slant six. Does anyone know what diffs from other cars will fit the van? The one in it is a 8 3/4" chrysler RA 36 according to the door tag. I have a 1966 dodge pickup but I think the axles are longer on the pickup . Thanks for any help

wheel cylinder interchange
I have a 1969 A 108 van and need to re-do my brakes. I know the master cylinders are the the same in all these vans. Looking at part store sites I've noticed some confusion about the wheel cylinder application. Are all the wheel cylinders the same for A 108 and A 100? I know almost everything is the...

correction on harmonic balancer question just posted
I looked again at the crank snout hole ( I thought 1" diameter seemed on the large side ). I made a rough re-measurement and it's closer to 5/8". Still don't know what thread count ( fine or course). Thanks.

bolt to install harmonic balancer
OK, I got the old balancer off of my 225. I also got another balancer off a '66 truck with a 225. I have a spare long block which had a bolt on the crank snout. The threaded portion of the bolt is about 1/2" in diameter with fine threads. Looked around and found a long enough bolt with the same thre...

225 harmonic balancer
I have a 1969 dodge A-108 with a 225 and auto transmission. The rubber in the damper is rotted so the outer ring spins independently of the hub. What harmonic balancers will fit this engine when I go to the junk yard? The one I have has a single groove since it runs only the alternator and the water ...

Re: Any new ways to flush gas tanks?
If you can get hold of a boat gas tank of the type used for out board motors, that works well in this situation. Not really a permanent set up but, I think, safer than a gas can that can tip over. I have used this system for extended periods with my van. You have to refill a 5 gallon tank pretty oft...

back again looking for a 727 part
I cleaned up my VB and thanks to ufo I saw where all the balls go. When I originally took the VB out I turned it over and a ball fell out. This was before I broke it open. I'm pretty sure it was loose because the spring that goes under the 3/8" ball in the upper right hand corner of the diagram of t...

valve body diagram a 727
I posted a question on may 30 about valve body cleaning (see below). Since the reason I had the trans apart to begin with was to fix a leak and since the trans was working ok I figured I would just leave the VB intact and spray clean the VB and put it back in. When I turned it over a ball fell out. ...

727 valve body cleaning?
I have a '69 A 108 with a six and a 727. It works fine but was leaking from the seal around the shift selector shaft. I dropped the pan and valve body to fix that and ((I think) have the problem in hand. What I'm wondering is, what's a good way to clean the valve body as long as I have it out? I'd r...

radiator pressure
I just had the radiator cleaned and patched on my A-108 van with a 225. The guy at the shop said it should have an 8 psi radiator cap. None of the chains seem to have one with that low pressure. Pep Boys says it takes a 13 psi cap. Any opinions?

I recently got a rebuilt alt for my '69 van with a /6. The old one was 1field wire and used the mechanical regulator. The replacement has 2 field connections and is meant to be used with a transistor regulator. Can I simply ground the negative field connection on the new alt and use the mechaical re...
