Re: truck wont start, no lights either

I have been using the test light trick to avoid further damaging my electrical system. I will be disconnecting the wires going from my starter relay to my starter all together tomorrow for they are in need of replacing. I'll let you know what happens.

Re: truck wont start, no lights either

When you say tape the end, are u referring to the joing where the connector & wire meet? Or over the connector so that it is completely covered. No metal showing whatsoever.

Thanks,
Eric

Re: truck wont start, no lights either

After checking every switch in the truck, I determined that nothing is on. I also discovered the fusible like that goes from the starter relay to the bulkhead was frayed&melted. I intend to replace the link, starter relay, and ill have the alternator tested.

how would i go about replacing the ignition switch on my 74 dodge pickup? I don't see any fastners/screws on the column where the key goes in. Am I looking in the wrong place? What am I missing?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: help with carb adjustment

I made the recommend adjustments. But I still failed my retest. I'm more than frusterated. I don't know why they even require 40 year old vehicles to test, as there are very few vehicle of that age even in operation. Do u happen to have any other ideas? Re: help with carb adjustment

Ok to clarify. I have a 1969 engine (318) with a 727 auto trans. So... Timing should be set a 2 1/2 before TDC with distributer disconnected? Idle speed should be at 750 when warm? I should find a "sweet spot" between 1.5 & 2 turns out for the mixture screws? Sorry that I'm being difficult, I'm just...

Re: help with carb adjustment

Torqueflite 727. Carburetor was professionally rebuilt 2 years ago. Almost no miles on it. For the mixture screws, the more turns out the leaner?
