Need full choke setup for 71 1brl. on slant six

I have a 71 slant six with headers and a 1 barrel carb. I know it sounds weird but I it runs good and I like it. problem is my auto choke no longer works on the new setup. It will start fair, but runs rough for quite a while until it gets good and hot. Once its hot it runs great. During the winter i...

Had a electronic distributor installed in my '70 d-100 about a year ago and since then 2 ignition switches have gone out. They never wore out this fast before. I seen a system surge protector real reasonable in my yearone book. keeps volts at 14.5 is that a good idea or do I need more. I usually car...

Re: Engine won't start

Heloo Mightydodge, Whats up with your truck haven't seen you post since August 31st. You said you left your truck sitting since you went into military in "01. How much gas was in the tank when you left? Did you use Sta-Bil in it? If not your whole gas tank might be fouled with decomposed gas. Any ga...

Is the fuel your'e using the original fuel that was in the tank when you left for the military? If it is get rid of it and go with fresh fuel. also rebulid the carb again. Once a carb has run on a motor and then not been used for quite a while the gaskets will shrink and it just won't run right. Fou...

How long has the engine been sitting. If it been quite a while there is an old trick my father told me about. Take out your spark plugs and give a good squirt of motor oil into each cylinder. Put your plugs back and give it a try again. It can't hurt anything and it just might work.

Please answer a few questions , Thanks for your help.

I have a couple of questions and would like to get some opinions about the 318 motor in my truck. First off the motor has been redone .30 over . I would like to know how many cubes it has now. Does anyone know what the formula for figuring cubes is? When the motor was redone the crank had to be turn...

Can I use E-85 in my 1970

with the changes coming to the gas supply, someday I may be forced to use a gas blend that is not compatable with the motor I currenty have. I already use an additive to help my 1970 motor with the lack of lead needed to lube the upper end. I do not want to change motors just to keep my truck. I als...
