Re: In need of advice and ideas.
If the situation was reversed, I wouldn't fly to Norway and drive a vintage vehicle that I wasn't familiar with on a 1,000+ mile cruise to a coastal shipping point. Pls re-read TexasTwoStep's post...it pretty much sums it all up. Bite the proverbial financial bullet and have it shipped. I'm pretty c...

I have a somewhat similar offset unit although its bowl seems slightly deeper. Mine also has a steady bracket. I had never seen one before either. The man I got the truck from thought it was originally from a stationary engine but wasn't sure. Yours is the only other one I've seen subsequently

Also try SMS Auto Fabric. They have a very wide inventory of original fabrics going back into the 50's or before. No kits, yardage only. Send them a small sample of the fabric you need. They're pleasant to deal with but NOT cheap

Re: 1968 D100 Dash Color and Paint Codes
I have a 68 D100 in very nice, original, unrestored condition. Its been a Calif truck from day one. The dash is painted satin black as others here have indicated. All other interior surfaces are painted in body color. Domestic sales literature photos for 68 show a satin black dash.

This may be old news for some, but there's a really nice 1/64 scale 62 Dodge p/u and Shasta Airflyte camper combo available. done by Greenlight Collectibles. Both truck and trailer are red/white and are quite nicely detailed IMO. Its available from a couple of sources, the most inexpensive being Die...

Re: A120 van? Help identify my van!!
The 20 designation means that it was built as a wagon with seats rather than as a cargo van. The wagon versions were registered as passenger cars rather than trucks in most states The Standard Catalog of American Light Duty Trucks, John Gunnell, editor, has a lot of information on the A100/108 truck...

Just for curiosity, other than availability of parts, what issues did folks experience with using the Pertronix system?

Re: Need opinions
Considering the amount of time. effort. parts chasing and dollars needed to do the swap "right", IMO you'd be farther ahead to simply sell the truck and then use the proceeds to buy whatever you feel would better fit your needs

There's a machined boss on the right (passenger) side of the block, near the coil mounting bracket. The first digits indicate what engine, 170 or 225. It may be hidden under decades worth of slop but its there

Another possibility is a loose/dirty connection at the starter relay. I had a similar problem with my 67 van. Cleaning up the connection took care of it.

Also, keep it well supplied with ArmorAll or a similar product to prevent the vinyl from drying/cracking. If the vinyl is already dried out in appearance, several applications of the product may be needed to bring it up to speed.

Re: replacement carb question
Here's their site: daytonaparts.com. My question was basically about the overall quality of the carb. I've yet to find anybody who's actually used one, probably not a good sign. They're apparently a manual choke only, a plus for some folks, likely a minus for others. The company apparently also sell...

replacement carb question
Daytona Parts Co in Florida sells a "universal" 1 bbl carb, somewhat similar in external appearance to a Holley 1920. Has anybody tried one of these on a slant six in our trucks or on any other slant six for that matter? If so, any comments pro or con? Thanks in advance

Like other franchise operations, the quality of Maaco's work can and does vary widely from one location to another. Its likely a good idea to speak with other folks who have relatively recently used the specific Maaco location you're considering and if possible, to see the vehicle itself. I had a 66...
