The Americans

In his radio segment on June 5, 1973, Gordon Sinclair of CFRB in Toronto made the following statement about us. It is still worth listening to after thirty five years.

Rush makes a lot of fun of Rio Linda, but just about every other house there has at least one car or truck up on blocks -- it must be part of their CC&Rs or something. By the way, they have quite a few wrecking yards.

Car Dash Board Swap

There was a post a couple of years ago about swapping a late model dash out of a car, maybe a Pontiac? Whoever posted it said it was almost a perfect fit. Anyone remember seeing anything about it?
Thanks

About twenty years ago I found out by way of my brother in law that you have to have a building permit to pour a two foot by two foot pad for a friggin' garbage can in Pleasant Hill of the People's Republic of California.

I've heard of filling the tank with water, but I never tried it. You can take it to a radiator shop and have them boil the tank, then it's safe to weld on for a few hours. Then the gas vapor returns as it's locked in the crystalline structure of the metal, so don't wait too long. Another way is to f...

A quick gas tank repair is a bar of soap. I has a leaking seam on my 69 D100, rubbed some plain old bar soap on it and it never leaked again in the next fifteen years I had the truck. I also used that same trick on a motorcycle tank that developed a stress crack over two inches long. The three gallo...

Nice Business Sweptline

Last Saturday I spotted an early Sweptline (quad headlight) being used by a sign company near Sacramento. It was raining and traffic was too busy for me to do anything but get a quick glance, but it looked immaculate. Looked like it's someone's pride and joy.

A can of tuna then a can of beer to wash it down into the air intake at the back of the hood. The best of both worlds.

BTW the beer can be previously used... but you didn't hear it from me.

Gray tint helps, besides it's a crew cab. I've had trucks with sliding windows before, it doesn't have to be completely open all the time, either.

A clean bed would help if it were completely open, or a hard or soft tonneau cover would help too.

Don't mind me, I'm just playing with ideas for now.

How about this? Anyone ever thought about transplanting a station wagon crank down rear window into a sweptline?

I had a similar sounding charging problem in a 67 Polara 500 -- took me about a year and a half to find the problem, a short in the thru-firewall connector.

Removing A100 roof?

I've seen pictuires of other trucks with the roof made so it can be removed. Anyone thought about doing it to an A100? I don't have one so I can take a look, do they have a full length ladder frame? Would it lose too much structural stength? I'm just playing with ideas at this point.

As much as I like driving a stick, using the clutch kills my left ankle. Arthritis flairs up and I can't walk for days. It feels like a couple of 16 penny nails have been driven into my ankle. I'd go from mild pain to agony and back. Once I started driving automatics only, I haven't had trouble for ...

Roll Down Rear Window

Anyone have any ideas about making the rear window capable of rolling down like in a station wagon? The tank would have to be moved to be able to roll down all the way. Also need to make sure the exhaust system's tight and exits far enough back -- nothing in front of the rear wheels. It's a small wi...
