Re: Repro mirror stems and rear bumper

Thanks Shawn! I'm most interested in the mirrors. I can live with the bumper I have right now. Still surprised that there isn't enough demand for someone to make a batch of repro parts, although I guess just about anyone who cares is here already :Thumbsup

Repro mirror stems and rear bumper

The 3 hole mirror stems and round mirrors, along with the mythical factory rear bumper, would seem to be great candidates for reproduction by a stamping company. I don't know how many they'd need to sell to make it worthwhile, but I'd pay $150-$200 on a nice set of chrome stems. I paid $200 for a kn...

I've been thinking about headers. Any advantages besides better sound...improved gas mileage, perhaps? Any disadvantages? Can I still use the stock exhaust, or am I replacing everything from the headers back if I do?

Where's the best place to buy?

Thanks,

Jason

Thanks much! Apparently, it doesn't have the hardware it used to...is it worth trying to find the spring, etc. or should I just leave it retired in place?

Exhaust header gate valve?

Apologies in advance for what is most likely a newbie question (let the snickering commence :joker )I was working on my truck this weekend (68 D100 with 383) and noticed something I hadn't ever noticed before. On the right side exhaust header there is what appears to be a gate valve just before the ...

John, Thank you very much for the in-depth comments; that's exactly what I am hoping to get from all you experts :clap I spent the afternoon realigning the driver's side door, which was hitting the striker about 1/2" low. Had a flashback when I was cleaning some trash out of the hole in the left fro...

No bushing between the 2 disks; the oval shaped end of the linkage rides against the inside of both disks and I guess it acts like the bushing. The disks are 2.5" in diameter, but it appears that they just need to be big enough so the linkage end stays between both disks without getting hung up.

Baby pictures (68 Dodge D-100)

Hi all, Thanks for such a warm welcome...I'm excited to be part of the fun. I had my first chance today to work on my new baby; plugs, distributor cap and rotor, oil and filters. She starts right up but idles a bit rough. The water pump bearings appear to be shot; the pulley rocks back and forth whe...

My "new" truck is a 68 D-100 with a 383 and a LoadFlite 3 speed auto on the dash and auxilary tanks in front of the rear wh...
