Re: which headders???

I have 79250 on my truck. But it is a 69. Fit great. Had exhaust put on today. Only thing is I removed the upper ears of the crossmember an ran 2 1/2" pipe up over the crossmember. None of it sits below frame level.

Jegs Adjustable Fuel Level Sender

Does anyone know if this www.jegs.com/i/Auto+Meter/105/3262/10002/-1 would work on the behind the seat gas tanks? If it would, I could just buy the gauge to match it and be done with it. I really dont want to sink alot of money on trying to get my stock one working.

Building a crossmember

I installed 79250 headers on my truck. I have to build a crossmember. I am thinking of using a piece of 3" channel iron fabbed up to where the 3" exhaust will fit nicely. Would the 3" channel be strong enough? Or would I need something a little stronger? THANKS

Re: Ok to remove top transmission mount?

Ok, I am planning to build my own crossmember. I have a piece of 3" channel iron. I want to bolt it to the trans and through a couple bends bolt it to the upper part of the frame. Would a piece of 3" channel be strong enough? How much stress is on a trans crossmember anyway? THANKS

Re: Ok to remove top transmission mount?

Yes Exactly, mine is a 69 and has no bell housing crossmember. I was thinking of removing the upper ears of the crossmember and running the 3" above. After thinking about I think it may get the floor pan too hot? maybe? Ive been leaning toward fabricating up my own crossmemberthat bolts to the top p...

Re: Ok to remove top transmission mount?

Ok from what I can make out you cut 9" from the center of the crossmember, put it on top of the transmission and made a plate to go around the tailshaft that ties it all together? If I could do that I could put the 3" pipe under the crossmember and that would prolly be better than putting the exhaus...

Ok to remove top transmission mount?

I am currently installing headers on my old truck. the headers come right out in front of the transmission cross member. If I remove the upper part of the cross member I could get the exhaust above the cross member. My question is would it have a negative affect on my truck if I just remove that upp...

Is there an operating temp range the trannys should run at, or the cooler the better?

If you replace the rear Axle Unit so that it has Disc Brakes.
you will need to have Disc Brakes on the front too.

Re: High beams not working

Just fixed the problem. It was the high beam wire going into the fuse box under the hood. Just wiggled the wires and they came on.
These high beams has not worked in 9 years so I am pretty excited.

Re: Another rear disc option?

Man that sucks. Just when I thought I found a reasonably priced rear disc conversion something has to hinder it. Especially when the bearings from Jegs are $100+. That would put this disc conversion up into not reasonabley priced zone.

Does the sweptlines have green bearings? Can this be used on my truck? This kit is cheaper than the Scarebird and it has the e-brake.
