Re: Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
Shew We! My dad and I drove to New Ellenton South Carolina yesterday and picked up a parts car that was generously donated by a very nice fellow who bought it a while back and wound up only being able to use a couple pieces of trim. This car has a complete drive train with the factory bored 318 (325...

Re: Lights Dim then Bright Again
Thanks for the advice. I'll start pecking around here finding something to fix mine up right. I pulled it apart (breaking the ears off on accident) and cleaned everything up good. I also tightened up the connectors as best as I could and smeared dielectric grease on it all. When I got it all back to...

Re: Lights Dim then Bright Again
Hey Folks, Are the bulkhead connectors available anywhere? How about fuse block assemblies. That primary lead from the starter relay to the bulkhead on mine has been getting hot. It started losing contact lately and there are some really interesting consequences to that. The whole truck immediately ...

Re: Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
Have you ever seen that show about the guy named Earl... My name is Earl, I think it is? Well, he's got that list of things he has done bad, and he's trying to go back and fix all of those things... a little like a 12 step program for karma? I'm gonna have to go and pay some dues against that karma ...

Re: Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
Very cool story, Carlton. I'm going to have to stop by your place for a visit sometimes when I'm passing through Summerville on my way to my Bro-in-law's place in LaFayette. Back in the fifties I had a 56 Plymouth convertible with the two speed Powerflyte tranny. My dad bought a new Desoto with the...

Re: Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
Thank you all so much for the replies. 3/4 of the fun of antique cars, to me at least, is the hunt. I love working on them and seeing them come from behind and look great. And I don't mind that it may take me a while to figure out exactly what I'll do in the process of bringing my old car back from ...

Re: Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
Carlton As you know the bell-housing at that time was not a one piece mounting to the transmission case. Are both gone ??? The first series three speed Torque Flight will also bolt to the same bell-housing. Rodger & Gabby COS That is one thing out of many I remember knowing but had forgotten long a...

Off Topic Mopar Car Question - 1959 Dodge Coronet
I recently ran across my very first car which I restored back in high school. It's in pretty rough shape. I bought it back anyway. My problem is the transmission is missing. It has a 318 in it and it HAD a 2 speed powerflite with push button control on the dash... you know, reverse, neutral, drive a...

Re: Thinking of selling truck ???
At the risk of sounding condescending it's probably a crappy time to try to get what it's worth out of it with folks losing jobs and companies losing profits, etc. NADA puts a range of $5k - $14k and I am sure yours is in there somewhere. I paid $3k for my short 318 auto a/c Adventurer in pretty dec...

Re: Carb replacement
I did that with my original carburetor. But I was convinced that even though I was very careful and deliberate, there was something screwed up about it, like something being worn out or bent or something. I can't explain it. So I decided to get a "new" one and wound up only finding remanufactured......

Re: 727 Throttle Linkage Question
Holy Cow, it's clear to me now! I couldn't figure out how a clip like what is shown in the book would be able to move the linkage at all. I do think I need to take my current fabricated part off, cut a new one and drill the holes in it so it is held more down or forward. It needs to be directly belo...

Re: Good electrical mods
Perspective? My great grandfathers 1952 Farmall Super A tractor, which I can guarantee beyond any shadow of a doubt, has the original amp meter on it, ~still~ works great. I did convert it to 12 volt but I sure as heck didn't bypass the gauge. Granted I am not trying to add air conditioning, a boomi...

Re: ignition timing
I hate replying to my own posts, but you guys have a lot more knowledge than me and I want this to be vetted by the community at large. These are my thoughts from the past few days. I was constantly wearing out point kicker pads. No matter how I greased it or how much grease I used, I was having to ...

Re: 727 Throttle Linkage Question
Hey LC, Thanks for the info. The carb I have is a Carter. It's the same thing as original but it's a newer version of it. I was tired of rebuilds and trouble. The linkage is identical to the one I pulled off of it. The problem I have is that in order to get the linkage to move, which does make a hug...

Re: speedometer woes. inside tranny i think
Beats me. If it's stock it's on the nomenclature plate. And I don't know how the new process version of the 435 might differ from what I have documentation for. The supplement didn't say anything about a 435, so who knows. Check out page 014 on URL I sent you via PM. Maybe that helps? It looks...

Re: speedometer woes. inside tranny i think
What transmission are you talking about?
I believe on the 727 it is something you can service with the transmission in the truck. I have no idea because I am only going by what is in the shop manual. I will PM some images to you that should help... assuming it's a 727.

Re: 727 Throttle Linkage Question
I'll do my best to remember my camera tomorrow and take a better picture of it. I am glad I am not the only one. I am printing out the in vehicle service section of the shop manual tonight and am going to read the darn thing through. I believe it would do my transmission good to adjust bands and suc...

727 Throttle Linkage Question
Hi Folks, I am looking at my shop manual and realizing something is amiss with the way my transmission throttle linkage is connected. I have a bunch of questions about how things should work as the shop manual assumes nothing has been screwed with and doesn't explicitly say how the linkage should op...
