Re: New member! hiems over tie rods??
I have friends that change to hiem joints then switched back. They don't last. Even the best of the best can't hold up to water, snow, ice, dirt, sand, deicer. One guy even made boots to help keep the sand and water out. Still didn't work. fine for off road, but street driving I wouldn't. as for the...

Great info Doug. As always one of the most helpful people on the site.
I didn't know the 68 and older was a 10 spline.
For what it's worth: The Six States in Spokane has always been great to deal with. Prices and parts are good too.

Re: Bad 5380 Pinion Yoke
What is your truck? Year/model. Still may be grab a common size yoke, then maybe a ujoint that has two different sizes.... the name escapes me.. Maybe its call a Conversion ujoint? to adapt the drive line to the yoke. I tried the conversion ujoint before replacing my yoke but the correct size wasn't...

Re: Bad 5380 Pinion Yoke
Are all dana 60's 10 spline? I installed a Dana 70 rear and a 60 front from a 92' Cummins truck. The Cummins yokes were huge and my 69' drivelines had new u-joints so I grabbed a yoke from pull n save from a dana 60 that was in a mid 70's Dodge truck. I snagged the other yoke from the removed dana 6...

Re: Cranks but does not start
All -This is my brothers friend. He bought the 69' d100 Mike had started restoring, then Mike found his 70' Adventurer. Before selling the truck to Bob, Mike robbed the intake and carb of for his shagg'in wagon. I took the exhaust off of it and many other parts that Bob had to repalce. So Bob bought...

Re: 1969 W100 Sweptline project
now that I've seen the pictures, a couple things jump out. 1. Lift blocks on a front axle are a big no no. The blocks create a very weak point at the ubolts. The safe way to lift the front of a truck is lift springs, or add a lift springs. Blocks are perfectly fine in the rear. 2. what steering box ...

Re: 1969 W100 Sweptline project
Welcome! The Dana 44 should be pretty easy to install. Things to think about with the Power steering: I was going to do the samething but ran into this problem with most boxes I mocked up. 1. If you use crossover with the box on the out side of frame, the drag link and pitman arm (in a right hand tu...

Re: Inverted T /cross over steering
Update: I installed my skinny winter wheels and tires and the slight bump steer got better. Less leverage on the suspension and steering parts I guess, this made me start wandering if the track bar idea was going to solve all my problem. I have been wandering about the condition of my king pins. Loo...

Re: w200 king pins
Sorry I don't have part numbers and don't know if you can get them. Hard to find parts and obsolete stuff drive me crazy. I converter to a 92' dana 60 for that reason, plus you also gain disc brakes. The Heavy duty dana 44 from the 80's to 93' is also a good axle and cheaper to buy. Axles from Dodge...

Re: Disc Brake conversion
It's not throwing money away when the rotor was screwed up from rubbing. :banghead Beside one set of rotors should last a VERY long time. Sweptline's are far lighter than the 2500's the rotors were made for. I do lots of brake jobs for people, I've notice more so lately. brakes take alittle longer t...
