Re: Thanksgiving Camping

I read up on it. Seems like a decent design so possibly save on fuel? But, I'm assuming it's the week part of the system. It's one of those "eh" designs- they're decent when they work, but you're still spinning the axle shafts (well, the drivers' side and the outer shaft on the passenger side on a ...

Re: Thanksgiving Camping

Ya definitely- a 1st gen does ride pretty darn nice with a set of 4" lift springs under it, though! My old '97 was a pretty comfortable ride, but the '98 doesn't ride much better than my crew cab does. Might have something to do with the full-on 1 ton springs and the unforgiving 19.5's I put on it L...

Re: Thanksgiving Camping

NICE! The '94-'98 are definitely my favorite regarding power and reliability- moreso the '96-'98 as they had higher HP ratings from the factory and the injection pumps are a bit more reliable than their '94-'95 counterparts. As far as I'm concerned, the 1st gen front suspension stuff is far superior...

Top pic is definitely t-case shifter bracket, bottom pic is definitely front bumper brackets (yeah, they're pretty weak considering what they're supposed to do LOL)

Awesome truck! The sticker on the fender and the door lettering are absolutely amazing- glad you were able to get the primer off without fading them!

Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....

I think either way works- at 20 I didn't really have the knowledge or skills to build mounts, so I blindly fumbled through doing the frame stretch out in the yard with a stick welder. I borrowed a laser level from work to setup the height of the different body mounts so that part was pretty straight...

Re: Hi from Oregon

Hey Erik- welcome! Don't know it you saw this truck or not: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/4963388376.html . Was a member's truck on here- you can read through his build thread (look up crusty's 1968 crew build) and see what all has been done to it. Crusty recently sold it on ebay and it pop...

Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....

I cheated and stretched the '90 frame 29" and put the long bed crew body on it  . On my '67 I've been slowly putting together over the last couple years I plan to run a 1990 steering box on the '67 frame and do crossover steering. There's a decent sticky on it in the power wagon section on this...

Re: Addiction: the next step

It was actually a craigslist find 10 miles from my house! Guy said he took it to a couple swap meets and had no bites on it. Story was that it came from the local Dodge dealership (used to be about 4 miles from my house before it closed) and was removed some time ago. Will have to get the exact deta...

Addiction: the next step

Recreation of the dealership

Plan is to clean it up a bit, build a steel frame to help support it, and hang it up on the barn with some florescent lights behind it. Will be a <very> slow side project but I will keep you guys updated!

Cool truck- saw that on CL a while back! I have the 1969 version of your truck, only heavily modified by a previous owner LOL! Have some spare parts and a few local-ish connections as well if you need anything. Welcome!

Re: Thoughts on converting D500 to 4X4

Another one to add to the "value is in the sheet metal" vote. Put that cab on a later 1 ton 4x4 chassis with disc brakes- '76-'93 Dodge 1 ton 4x4's had some beefy components worthy of putting the D500 body on- maybe even a rollover 1st gen cummins W350. Or if you wanted heavier, Ford F550's have som...

Re: Tow dolly a w200

I've used tow bars and dollies for years with no issues- it's all about making sure you have secondary safety devices coupling the towed vehicle to the tow vehicle, periodically stopping to make sure the straps/chains are tight, and not driving like an idiot. Have thousands of miles of experience pu...

Re: 1963 d100 Cummins

Looks like plenty of room for a first gen dodge intercooler if you're good with a welder, have some fab skills and aren't afraid to do some hefty cutting. Something needs to be done tho- that curly-q pipe between the crossover tube and turbo is plain goofy looking....

Re: need a w200 front axle assembly

Time to find a different mechanic- the pumpkin on the ford axle isn't even on the correct side! Direct bolt in and go would be '61-'71 Power Wagons (closed knuckle dana 44). '72-'74 W200's (open knuckle dana 44) have locking hubs, the same drum brakes and same spring perch width but will need the sh...
