Re: help! need info for my 440/727 1959 swap

"2. Is there a certain angle that the engine should sit at? If so, how would I measure that?" The normal rule of thumb is, with the truck sitting normally, the carb mounting surface on the intake should be very near to level. The second angle to be aware of is the driveshaft, or universal joint ang...

Re: help! need info for my 440/727 1959 swap

If the thermo clutch is a silver unit that bolts in front of the blades, then mine has one. Would that mean it is an 18" 7 blade? As far as selecting gears, I am planning on taking the van's steering column, which is column shift. I haven't taken a good look yet to make sure it will work though. I a...

help! need info for my 440/727 1959 swap

O.k., so I figured out that the van I am using for a donor had a 440/727 in it. The motor/trans. are now on an engine stand waiting to be cleaned up. The motor and trans. both run good, so I am just going to chrome it up a little, and throw it in. My truck is a 1959 D100 with a 318/3 speed manual co...

Re: my project-1959 d100 Utiline

I just discovered that the motor in the van is a 440. So I yanked it out yesterday, along with the tranny. Does anyone know what kind of trans should be hooked to that motor? Anyway, like always, my project just got bigger. Woohoo!

Re: my project-1959 d100 Utiline

The body is pretty dang straight. There is only surface rust, and no, that is not a hole in the hood. . I banged out some ripples from the rear fenders, and elsewhere, but it is at a point where if I either cruised it with patina, or primered it, it would look straight from 10'+ to everyone but...

Re: Please allow myself to introduce myself...

Cool links guys. Now for a little advice... I have a 78 dodge 3/4 ton van that has a 360 and auto trans(not sure of model, does anyone know?) Anyway, it runs good, and I may consider swapping it into the truck. Keep in mind I am making a hot rod. Also, the van has disc brakes, etc. I may use those a...

my project-1959 d100 Utiline

Yea, I know it's not a swepty, but this is what I have to work with. When I look at it, I see something different than the picture portrays. I see a half finished hot rod already  . My wife says I'm dillusional. She's right, but whatever. I have switched the wheels out with 15" 5 spoke mags (un...
