yeah kinda, except I have the stock cable, just need the linkage in between the carb and the cable. At least I think I need the linkage, need to figure out how to hook it up in any case. Didn't occur to me that it would be on the pass side! Do you have a picture by chance? Should the vacume diaphram...

Sorry about taking so long to reply trey, I just spent a few days in the hospital getting my appendix out. But I'm on the mend so I can't complain. Both. I know I am missing some linkages and I have no clud hoe it is supposed to hook up. It looks like originally it had (on the pass side of the carb)...

manual choke carb question

DO any of you have a good picture of the linkages on a carb w/ a mechanical choke? I've got a carter on my 318 poly that has been converted over to mechanical in a very slap shod manner and I'm trying to redo it right, but I'm not quite surehow it is supposed to be.

Thanks!

For that matter, if you are going to do this. make sure that you have the E brake on and the wheels chocked. It wouldn't be all that hard to make a mistake and have the truck drive off with you hanging out of the hood. :-)

The 71 is is a different beast than the 66 that I have under the hood. But, do you get any clicking when you turn the key. With the truck in Neutral have you tried jumping electricity to the solinoid? If it turns over that way, its probably an issue with the wiring or the solinoid. Y'know that there...

Found the battery drain!

The dome light (which hasn't worked in a long time) was bleeding electricity from the battery! Since the done light works all the time (not just when the ignition is on) that explains the issue.

Thanks for the help!!!!!!! &%$# The darn interstate shops down here won't exchange without a receipt (never mind that I was assured that it was a newly manufactured battery when I bought it so they could see that it was manufactured less than a year ago) so it looks like I am going to have to wait f...

My Truck eats batteries!!

I bought a new I-24 Interstate battery in May for my 66 D-100 and it doesn't work at all! It won't hold any charge at all! I idled her for about 45 minutes and the solinoid barely clicked at all. Brought the alternator into AlPro and they tested it seems to be working properly although it has a bear...

Thank you much!

Just for future referenceand my own personal gratification. For the 61-68 switchesand motors, there are only two options. Variable or single speed? Only one style of single and only one style of variablespeed? Thanks!

what year windshield switches interchange?

In my experience, with the 63ish to 66ish swepts (the only ones I have taken apart), the only variation I have come across in wiper switches is multi speed vs single speed and the wiring (whether the wire from the switch to motor is part of the wiring harnes or seperate). I am going to take a wild g...

I think you would be kicking yourself if you said $800 about the time you got into the job and realized how big a job it really is. I would go get a quote from some good place and hand that to her. That way you won't be working on your truck for free. Your time is worth something, even if you are wo...

I'm a couple of hours N. I will be heading south in three weeks and could drop by if needed. Not exactly on my path, but I think it would only add about a half hour 45 min. to my trip so I could do it for the $15 in extra gas (or if the price of gas keeps goign up, $354 in extras gas). ;-)

lathe..

Hey Paul! Yup, saying you had a lathe is going to get you in trouble. If I were to mail you a 3/4 in brass rod about 6 in. long, would you be able to poke a 3-8 or 5/16 (can't remember the exact size I need) hole exactly down the middle of it? I am making bobbins for my girls spinning wheel and I ne...

In my experience, if you get a vehicle with an auto tranny stuck in water, the tranny fills with water which is a really bad thing. Don't know about sweptline autos though. I really like the extra control that I have when I drive the stick. As for being to much work using the clutch, when I am feeli...

I think the coolest vehicles are the ones that people have put a lot of work into because they like their vehicles, they drive their vehicles and have kept them pretty stock. A few upgrades are cool, but I reall don't like lowered vehicles... raised ones if done tastfully can be pretty cool but I li...

I shear sheep and my name is Matthew (haven't heard that in a while). I had that since I got my first Email address (same one I still have). It is really nice because I have used it in a lot of different places and it has never ever been taken by someone else already.
