Re: Power Steering Conversion Kits

I remember him from when I first joined this site. And to be honest he was a big poster & contributor to this sight at one time. Not sure why he left, probably had something to do with a conflict of interest or dispute of some sort. Several of the big time member/posters here departed. Even the guys...

Re: Power Steering Conversion Kits

I am not sure exactly who you are dealing with. I do know certain "entities" names won't appear on this website, but I don't know why they are blocked/censored. And I personally haven't dealt with any other of them. One rule of thumb I do try to go by is looking at a business's Google reviews. This ...

Re: 318 Ignition/Start Issue

Starter relays seems to be more reliable than the other components of the cranking & ignition system. I have never had one fail.

Re: hood hing springs

I would say it is a spring issue but can't say that there is a factory replacement available.

You may have to just take one & find something close in length & tension from a hardware or supply store.

Re: 318 Ignition/Start Issue

If this were an automatic, I would say check the Neutral Safety Switch on the transmission & the wire from it to the starter relay. Since this is a 67 W200 I am guessing you have a manual transmission.

Anyways try the jumping across the relay as dodgeboykim suggested.

Re: Dodge 2 ton truck

That's the thing about 2 ton & larger, they didn't come with pick up beds. They had flat beds, grain beds, service beds, stake beds, wrecker, dump beds etc. Probably left the factory as simple cab & chassis. Some of the drivetrain (engine/transmission) was same as light duty trucks. Same for maybe h...

Re: Dodge 2 ton truck

Yes, rubber hoses can look fine on outside but inner walls be deteriorated.

Also, there could be a mechanical issue causing the brakes to not release fully.

Re: Drive Train Swap

Welcome! Pertaining to question #1 The "spanner" piece is how the factory did it when they put automatics in these trucks, and those trucks also had the rear crossmember. I'm not sure if it (the rear crossmember) connected to both the upper/lower horizontal sections of the frame rails. Personally I ...

I think making one will work fine.

I see you are about a 4 hour drive from me.

Good looking old truck!

Re: Truck Died

As to where to send the carb, over on the power wagon advertiser site I have a thread titled "My W600 failed me today" or something to that extent. I believe it's in the 72-93 sub-forum. Anyways one of the other posters (oldndcctrucks) offered to rebuild it for me. Apparently he has a knack for them...

Re: Truck Died

The thing that I disliked about Florida the most was too many trees. I like some open spaces & a good view. In the 80's one of the bars in Gainesville would have a midget tossing contest. The point of a PCV valve & the valve cover breather arrangement is partially to allow for the pressure changes i...

Re: Truck Died

And yes the hose from base of the carburetor should go to a PCV valve at the valve cover & larger hose from black breather canister should connect to air cleaner/breather housing. PCV valves became common (required?) in cars in 1966. Possibly on gas powered light duty trucks then too.

Re: Truck Died

JohnB I am somewhat familiar with the area. I lived west of Alachua behind Sante Fe HS back in 87-89 & worked briefly at a pipe plant (it's gone now) in Newberry. Later I worked for Ray's Metal Works at the GE/Gates battery plant (it's closed too) on 441 east of Alachua. My dad worked at the Carlon ...

Not alot of places to pull over in Alachua County either. Those roads have NO shoulder, or they didn't 35 years ago.

Re: Spare Tire Mount in the Bed

Would keeping the under bed set-up be better if some sort of cranking lift cable was utilized? My Astro van has one & haven't had any issues with it, although my spare is not that large.

There is a guy (Dodgeboys) on the ramcharger site who has every FSM imaginable. Often if you post your question, he will post up the diagram you need. He also sells FSM in hard copy or pdf form.

I believe our 71 Chrysler 300 had it. I had a 79 truck with it too. I don't recall any of my other 70s trucks having it.

Re: 1965 tilt steering

From what I have read Dodge didn't offer tilt steering column in trucks until late 1970s, and those were Saginaw GM.

A picture would help us identify what you have.

Re: 1972 D500 front brake parts

Patrick66 on this forum recently redid the brakes on a 300 series truck and said it was not cheap. Maybe you could PM him about where he sourced his wheel cylinders from. Hopefully the company would be able to come up with D500 brake parts.
