Re: Minimum lift required for 38" superswampers on W200
The other consideration with pre- '69 trucks is finding lift springs. The only springs regularly offered by aftermarket companies are the '72-'93 Dodge springs, which are a direct bolt-in for Sweptlines. From what I've found, stock pre-'69 Power Wagon springs are roughly equivalent to a 5" lift spr...

My money says it's real. Look at the shadows. Then look at the metalwork on the fender to make it line up. If it's photoshop, the guy belongs in Hollywierd doing movie effects.Jim100 wrote:Interesting but photoshop I think.

I have Scott on my Facebook, and although he doesn't post much there, I know that he recently moved and made a brief comment about scrapping a bunch of the trucks after he scavenged parts from them.

... Really wonder what the hood is going to look like. Not that I agree with the guy doing this, but for the hood, I think I'd use an early hood with a late hood center section. Cut the center dished panel area from an old hood. Once the sides have been modified to make the two body lines match, in...

That's going to make a sweet driver! Simple, safe and reliable. The older cars seem to get a bad rap from most people these days about that, but a least I can diagnose and repair mine myself with minimal tools. I bought my wife a 72 TravelAll 4wd back in July, and she seems to like driving it. But r...

Re: Thinking of a 76 Dart Daily Driver.
They make excellent daily drivers. I had a rusty 73 for about a year, then found a rust free 72 that had a blown motor. When all was said and done, I had a 72 with PS/PB, larger 4 1/2" bolt pattern (with the later style rally wheels), front discs, and factory air. It was a Slant 6/904, and even with...

Re: Power Brake Upgrade
Didn't I see someone on here recently that used an early Dodge Ram diesel hydroboost set-up with the M/C? Those Ram cabs have a very funky firewall, and it may allow you to space it out enough to not need to mess with things. Hydroboost is the way to go though, I think. I'm looking into it for my Sc...

Re: bypassing amp gauge
When I was wiring my Scout 2 to accept the MoPar electrics, I used this site: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml This is a great write-up, well illustrated, and even shown on a 70's era Dodge truck. Perfect for what you need to know and do. I followed his instructions and m...

Re: CLEAN!! 68 Cummins PW in Diesel Power Magazine
I measured my Scout's steering box and it wasn't tall enough to get the pitman arm below the frame level. I wonder what got modified there. Nicely built truck though! It's good to see some more respectful Sweptline representin'.

Re: Complete Electrcal System?
Reading Ben's post reminded me that I forgot to mention that the Kwikwire kit has a feature that you can add that puts a complete ground circuit in your harness. It all runs back to a buss bar, and you could do your body and frame grounds from there. I'm heavily leaning towards that, since it will e...

There's a couple of places that I know make quality harnesses at good prices. I know people that have used both companies' kits in their vehicles and are well pleased with them. http://ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html http://kwikwire.com/wireharnesses.html I plan on using the kwikwire kit myself. Th...

That Ford looks like they got it stuck and decided not to pull it out. I kick myself for letting my short Ute bed slip out of my hands. Still have the perfect fenders at least.

Build a little box that goes from the under side of the dash to the floor, at the center hump. Mount your radio and power port there. Heck, you might even be able to mount a couple of small round speakers in the sides. With some more pre-planning, you could have a carpeted cover for the whole box to...

Re: Any Sweptline drawings out there?
When I was a teenager, I started with a drawing I had my older brother make of my Dad's 67. I would take that picture and trace it, tweak it, and for a good 10-15 years, make many more. Here's a few from my Photobucket account. Search for ihcguy on Photobucket and go to page 10 of my general album t...

I'd try to stay as close to the battery as possible. Maybe from the starter relay on the inner fender. That way you don't have to worry about voltage drop through other components.

Clayton; There's some good threads about alternative fuel tanks already on the board already, if the old style doesn't work out for ya.

That looks like a decent body to start with. You may have rusted floors, but there doesn't appear to be rust through in the rockers and fender lips. As bad as you may think it is, I've seen guys start with much worse. The silver Scout you pictured is similar to several I've seen. I've been curious i...

Re: frame drawings
I'll look on my computers later this weekend. Somewhere I believe that I have a copy of a page from an automobile repair manual for body shops that shows the correct measurements for the frame. It's what was used for doing use as you need to,..making the frame square again.
