Re: 4x4 conversion?
Also: for the front drive shaft and also the work on the rear; find a drive-line shop in your area and ask if they carry or can get SAE parts for american rigs? We sell metric stuff for your stuff here, so they may sell our stuff there? Probably have the rear shaft shortened, then drive the rig in f...

Re: 4x4 conversion?
Shorten the shaft. It can be done for not much money and is much simpler than trying to move the engine, plus you want your engine as far aft as possable for weight distribution.

Re: HUMVEE tires/wheels
No offence, but for about the same $ you could've bought NEW wheels from summit racing and might not be having the trouble you are having in your other thread. I need 16.5's , not 16's or 15's.........I looked at that. Not cheaper either new at the tire stores here or shipped from Summit. From Summ...

Power wagon 1 ton on ebay.
Not mine, but thought maybe someone would be looking for one. A little expensive for my taste.

Re: HUMVEE tires/wheels
menefreghista762... I would appreciate that info on the tires. And let me know if you find 2-3 more wagon wheels I could use them. Big J.....I'll keep my good eye out for some extra wheels for ya. The ones I found had various offset of (2)4.5, (1)4.25, (1)4.75 and (1) at 5". I use the 5" as a spare...

Lift springs for the sweptlines?
I seem to recall some one posting that you can use later model lift springs on a swept line, but that they will not be as high as stated. What is the deal with that? How much less lift do you get? Does any one make like a 12" lift spring for dodges?

Re: Pic request: rigs whith tires that stick way out; 4X4s.
MuddyOldMan; I'm already running 36X12.5-16.5s on 16.5X9.75 wheels, ie; wider than those. I think 16.5s have like 5" of back space though, but if I get 15s they have like 3". Cage man: those look good. If those are only 10s then you must have less back space, because mine are 9.75 wide and are reall...

Pic request: rigs whith tires that stick way out; 4X4s.
I am wanting to get 12 or 14" wide wheels for my D200 4X4 conversion. I want something that sticks way out, like that I can climb up on to get in the bed. I've already got 16.5 x 9.75s and they look so skinny, they don't even come close to sticking out. Has anybody got some wild wide tire pics?

Lube for speedometer cable?
My speedometer has bounced around a lot before. Now I just got my truck running after sitting for 7 years and it is so bad I can't read it, I'm guessing it just needs lube? What kind of lube should I use? I have this liquid graphite "lock" lube, I seem to recall hearing to use that, but don't know.

Great looking truck! What type of front bumper does it have? John :Thumbsup What you see now is just 3/8" X 4X4 angle, but it has a chrome bumper that gos over that and a big push bumper/grill guard over that. It is removed at the moment because I had a tow bar mounted for moving it to another stat...

Re: Pitman arm length on '71 manual stearing
I wish I could find a shorter pitman for a stop-gap measure for the moment. Anyways, my theme with this truck has been "use what ya've got", I have 3 power steering units; '81 GMC van (box/pump/column), '84 chevy blazer 4X4 (box/pump/column) and a ford/lincoln (box/pump only) from a '79 lincoln mark...

Re: Pitman arm length on '71 manual stearing
It has obvious amount of positive caster. Pinion, I'm not sure. Remember, this axle came from a chevy, so it was designed for a different spring angle probably. Hummers are bias (the ones I have, anyways) I have a magnetic angle gauge, I just need to find it. I was reading about caster and it said p...
