Re: Electric Power Steering install

Before my PS conversion, I looked into electric. For some reason, I thought I needed a 3/4-ton specific unit. Too bad I didn't follow up. Great install, great idea. I hope it serves you well.

Re: ezsteer Power Steering Conversion.

And we have power steering. I just spent about 15 minutes drafting a long drawn out explanation of how I finally finished this project. Then, I had to run off for a meeting (I'm at work tonight) and while I was gone I got timed out and lost the entire draft. Long story made short, I finally worked w...

Re: ezsteer Power Steering Conversion.

Update. Finally getting close. First off: Caution when dealing with ezsteer. Going back to the latest post, after sending the bracket back (at my expense) he realized it was incorrectly drilled. Of course. Then, even though it was his issue, he did not refund my shipping expense. Next, the pump brac...

Re: Steering Geometry help

Thanks, guys. As usual, life got in the way recently. Might try again this week. I think I'll try it with the stock parts (though it will be offset) and see how it works. I will still need to get an adjustable drag link, but I'll work through that while doing the lift. It seems that most of the adju...

Re: Steering Geometry help

I just noticed another option. An adjustable, offset, drag link will allow me to face the pitman arm end the opposite way, and after the lift should help restore the stock geometry. I searched and, of course, if I had a Chevy I could buy one in about 20 places. Anyone have any ideas where to source ...

Steering Geometry help

I'm working on a PS conversion. I am having some spacing issues. With the spacers that came with the new steering box, the steering shaft is not close enough for alignment. If I remove the spacers the steering pitman arm offset becomes an issue. Below are two pictures. The first one shows the angle ...

Re: ezsteer Power Steering Conversion.

So far, I'm off to a bumpy start. The steering box bracket holes do not line up with the box. I sent him a message on eBay and he replied almost instantly and called (my wife's phone was listed for some reason). I called him back and he seemed genuinely concerned and is sending out a new bracket tod...

Re: ezsteer Power Steering Conversion.

I've decided to keep this here and use it as the build thread for this system. If someone (mods etc) want to move it to the steering thread, let me know. I received the kit today and have uploaded an unboxing video on YouTube. It's curre...

Re: 70 W200 Heater Hose Diagram

Thanks for this. Also for the photo posting advice. I actually have the original shop service manual for all trucks of that year. I pared it down years ago to only have info for my truck, I just might have pulled one two many pages because I could not find these diagrams. This is so helpful.

70 W200 Heater Hose Diagram

My uncle cut out all of the heater hoses as some point. I'm getting ready to put it back together but cannot find any diagrams for routing. Can anyone here help me out? Also, there is this vacuum valve in the system additional to the cable-actuated valve. This truck has factory (dealer installed?) A...

ezsteer Power Steering Conversion.

It seems there's a new player in the power steering world. ezsteer on the bay is selling bolt-on conversion kits. I've reached out to them about how they fit up because there are not pics of it mounted. If it seems doable, I'll pull the trigger and post some pics here. On this note, I didn't find th...

Seems like you didn't figure out the pics. Would love to see them. PM me if you can, or drop me a note and I'll send you my email. Getting ready to do the final work on my 70 and PS is a must.

No, power steering, of any kind, was not offered in 1969 or 70.

Re: 1969 vs 1970 W200

Thanks everyone. I've been checking out a power steering kit on the bay. Says it goes to 1969. I was pretty sure there were no differences so I may just pull the plug. Of course, if it works out, I'll post a build thread.

1969 vs 1970 W200

Are there any mechanical differences between the 1969 and 1970 model years? Specifically talking about the drivetrain.

Re: 1970 bulkhead wiring for radio

I agree with the wiring system in general. I see, sometime in the future, a complete rewire. None of the big companies have branded wires specifically for my truck, but there are some great systems out there. I dread the idea of performing the work, but I'm sure it will save a lot of aches and pains...

Re: 1970 bulkhead wiring for radio

Thanks for the reply. The wires were butchered a bit over the years but I'll keep checking. There is a plug there, but it is not working at all right now. Of course, I noticed the dash lights are not working either, so it may be a deeper problem. Gotta love old wiring.

1970 bulkhead wiring for radio

I have searched and cannot find anything on this (but I'm sure I've seen the info somewhere). I cannot find a radio on any wiring diagram. I have a fuse in the block and it is switched. Without tearing the firewall apart, can anyone tell me which wire it is that comes out of the bulkhead connector? ...

Re: Column wiring plug wire removal

The tool did work...finally. Just took some finesse. Then, just as I was falling asleep last night, I realized that in my rush to make some progress by installing the wires into the old plug, I shot myself in the foot. I totally forgot that the wires have to feed into the column collar before the pl...

Thanks. Yeah, I went ahead and ordetone of the electrical connector removal sets. Hopefully one of them works.
