Re: 361 bell np540 help

looking at buckys pictures it looks like the location of the drivers side fork window is in a different loation. mine is kinda more on the topside of the bell. interesting but I imagine everything will bolt up to the 440.

Re: 361 bell np540 help

ok I have talked to the owner now and he says it is a 5 speed truck and it has a hydraulic clutch. I am waiting on pictures as of right now. So quick question it looks like the np540 was the standard equipment trans according to a brochure I found. But there may be the chance of a different trans us...

Re: brake pads falling out

well I talked to a few guys at work yesterday and they were quizzing me and I think I know what it might be now. when I changed it over to manual brakes my brake pedal push rod didn't line up perfectly with the piston on the back of the master. sometimes its binds up just a hair and puts about a qua...

Re: brake pads falling out

yup it is really strange, I have many mopars and have never been stumped like this. yup the parts are all factory mopar style and resemble the 4 other dana 60 fronts I have. front reservoir goes to the rear brakes and rear reservoir to the front. I have the residual pressure valve mounted a few inch...

Re: brake pads falling out

wheel bearings are in spec. im almost wondering if its a bad master again. I don't know what the odds are of having that many bad masters. I bench bleed them and they bleed very good. the one master I did put in had a bad rear seal from new. maybe I should try a different brand altogether. it just b...

brake pads falling out

on my 68 fargo I have installed newer 1990 one ton dana 60 diffs front and rear. the brakes ran fine for a couple years and last summer I was having issues with the front disc brake pads falling out on passenger and driver side. the brakes would be firm and feel great about half the time and some ti...

Re: carb cold weather pumpshot issues

thanks for the replies, i ended up buying a 4160 series holley so i will try my luck at that. i have an edelbrock on my other truck that i scored at a pick n pull for $10 and it always seems to have drivability problems, but i dont drive it that often. every carb has its quirks.

carb cold weather pumpshot issues

hey just wondering what some of you guys are running for a 4 barrel carb that works decent in the winter time. on a couple of my trucks i run the holley truck avenger carb with electric choke. my issue is when its cold out the accelerator pump shot mechanism always seems to be stiff. there is no act...

Re: Re-Installing Front Axle

as far as i know the only thing that must be tightened with the full truck weight on is the rubber spring eye bushings. you want them torqued in the position at rest and the leaf springs not flexed out. this holds true for any rubber bushing other wise they may stretch and tear when you let the truc...

Re: beefier 4 speed yoke?

by not OEM are you implying you got a newer trans altogether? im hoping i can just find an easy bolt on yoke since otherwise the assembly is working flawlessly, and i just shelled out for a new clutch a couple years ago.

Re: beefier 4 speed yoke?

ok i will have to try and look into that but i have only ever seen one D500 truck in my life and its long crushed by now, i have checked out a few D300 trucks and they all seem to have the parking brake mounted on the back of the trans so that option is out i know.

beefier 4 speed yoke?

hey i was just wondering if anyone has found a source for a bigger yoke to fit on the back of a 68 vintage or older hydraulic bellhousing 4 speed tranny with the coarse spline? every truck i have ever seen has just had the stock spicer 1310 or a stock mopar 7260 ujoint size on the yoke. i have been ...

Re: wheel bearing tech needed

hi am am also looking for the answer to this question if anyone has the info. i dont have a service manual and its for a 68 W200. my locking hubs quit working and i traced it back to the wheel bearings being completely worn out on one side about 3/8ths of play, which i was shocked because it wasnt h...

found a few local trucks rotting away

first is this very super rare 57 -59 sweptside truck. with v8 engine that still spins and a pushbutton auto. even has a factory looking radio. there is a nice writeup on allpar.com that says there are only less than 200 survivors all three years combined. it has hoodpins so it must of been a pretty ...
