Re: My trucks Twin
Put an old school DQ logo on the door, and it would look like an old company delivery rig...see if they could sweeten your paycheck with sponsorship money!

Looking good! Your brother is one lucky guy (to have a cool truck, and an even cooler brother to work on it for him!).

Re: HELP!!! Electronic voltage regulator conversion
Should be two screws that hold the cover on the mechanical regulator. Pop the cover off and you can see if it has failed...I like that feature over the newer electronic ones.

Re: Windshield Gasket
IF my truck DID leak after it was installed, I would then take it to an auto glass shop and have them seal it. This is a 'special' gun that they use for that purpose. Not just a tube of silicone. PLUS... They used to use a gooey sealer (holy cow did that stuff get all over the place), not silicone ...

Re: Installing front fenders
I'll be upfront in saying I've only dismantled, not assembled... But if I get the opportunity to put one together, I think I would put the core support on but leave the bolts very loose...then put the fenders on. Having two guys would make things easier, because you'll have to lean the core support ...

Re: Fuel Capacity 59 D100?
I don't know for certain, but '61-'68 trucks only had 16 gallon tanks (as a general rule), so I'm thinking you'll be okay.

Re: Opinion on Shocks for a '69 D100?
I'll second John's recommendation, I have them on my '68. I had some $15 NAPA ones while I got everything sorted out, and boy did they squeak...

Re: bed mounts
I sold the bed off my parts truck several months back, and don't have plans to remove the bed off my '68 for several months yet. Perhaps Ben (CSS-Registry) has measurements from when he restored his truck?

Re: Best shipper for odd-sized items?
Sorry I wasn't more clear. I just wrapped the brackets up and laid them in the recess of the bumper. Then the box can be 80" x 7" instead of 12". Just passing along what worked for me, in case it helps you.JimE wrote:The brackets go with the bumper. Jim

Re: What kind of paint to use?
I was talking to a fella who restores instrument clusters on occasion, and he mentioned that the 'chrome' color spray paints tend to be just right for the silver parts. I haven't tried it yet to know for sure, but hope that helps you.

Re: bed mounts
The bed mounts are blocks of (I think) Ash wood. I'm not aware of anyone who sells them. Are your old ones good enough to use as templates?

Re: Best shipper for odd-sized items?
Jim, pop the brackets off the bumper and you'll save probably $20 on those prices. As I recall the last one I shipped was ~$35.

Yes, I have gone through and redundantly grounded everything on this truck.
