Re: How are you guys heating your garage
well your much more ambitious than me. If I get 2-3 hours in the evening to work in my garage, I don't want to spent and hour and a half stoking a fire outside in the snow. I guess I'm looking for the most effecient heat that I don't have to spend much time maintaining.

How are you guys heating your garage
I've been hackin my way thru winters in the northeast for years in my garage with space heaters, and the time has come to fix it. I've looked at fuel oil furnaces, waste oil furnaces, and propane. Waste oil would be the way to go, if you can generate enough clean oil, and have the room to put one. F...

Re: Rear End Lowering Help
sorry i didn't respond to your pm, i've been offline for a while. But like slick said, the rear axle gets removed and set on top off the springs with new perches. If you leave the old ones on there and use u-bolts and shock plates to mock up, you will center the housing by default. If you torch them...

Re: Went to Carlise!!!!!!
I don't know. I didn't take any of it. I parked inside on a tow vehicle pass. I wasn't anywhere near the show field with it. I just kinda cruised there in it with my son.

Re: Lowering options?
Welcome. I looked around the website and couldn't find anything to indicate he has the tooling to drop one of our axles. Looks like he specializes in early fords. Have you asked them, or gotten a price?

Went to Carlise!!!!!!
Man what a show. Drove the truck up with my son and brought home his first car. 71 Demon, v8 k-member, 4 spd, 8 3/4, dual snorkel scoop. gonna make a nice car. Had a good time with the truck. No problems. I do need to notch the rear frame tho, she hits over bigger bumps. Carlise had a lot to offer. ...

Re: Lowering options?
I would buy a pitman. You can weld forged steel. But its a steering component, so be good at it, and have it magged when your done.

Re: Lowering options?
I bent the steering arm down until the drag link just passes over the axle. As for the pitman, I shortened mine. Some of the bigger trucks had pitmans that are about 6 3/8" center to center. I'm not sure which ones. If you shorten yours, don't go less than that.

Re: Lowering options?
I don't think so. My springs are basically flat when loaded, and I've got about 3" of travel. I still think there are 2 easy ways to get 6" of drop out of these trucks. Both would ride and look nice and wouldn't be hard to do. One is the flip. You gain the thickness of the spring pack plus the thick...

Re: What wheels will work on certain trucks.....
Your wheels should be 5x4.5 bolt pattern which is very popular throughout moparland, and is the same as most fords. chevy used a 5x4.75. You should have your pick of wheels.

Re: Lowering options?
I've been asked to do a step by step article to detail what I did to lower my truck. I'm currently in process. I hope to have it done in a week or so. Its takes a while to put it together. I still haven't made a new drag link for mine, but I do make ice cream runs in it from time to time. I'm impres...

Re: Lowering options?
Really, I would think that a 3 or 4 inch dropped axle along with some spring work in the front, would sit nice and ride decent without al lot of work. You should be able to get 6 inches or so that way. I don't remember what mine measured before, but I think I got around 6 with the flip, 3 with the a...

Re: Lowering options?
Absolutely. If you're after a safe scrub line, this is NOT the way to drop the truck. 2 flat front tires and I'm driving a plow down the highway. Only way around it would be big rims and small sidewalls. I'm not into that look. So I'll take my chances. But to answer your question, 3" was the amount ...

Re: cant i make a custom front axle to lower my truck
I think a few people have. If you look a few posts down to the LOWERING OPTIONS, you can see some of what I went thru with my front axle flip. Is it easy? I guess that depends on your skill level. Its not an unbolt and rebolt procedure. Theres some cutting, measuring and welding involved. Everything...

Re: Lowering options?
rear is just a straight flip. I left some extra u bolt threads because I'm thinking about adding a 1" block. One pic shows the dropped and braced tie rod I had to make. And one pic is of the 4 link rod I bought today to sacrifice for a drag link. I mutalated mine during the experimental phase. Now t...

Re: Lowering options?
This is how it looks now. And a few pics of the front suspension. Really drives nice. Sid at Dropped axles did a nice job with the axle. I welded the perches on before it was sent out. He drops em, sandblasts and magnafluxes em before he sends them back. Top notch fella and I would recommend him.
