Re: Engine paint ?

The 340 has been red, blue, or orange, depending on year. In 1970, it could've been any of the three. In1972 and 1973, the 340 was Corporate Blue. was also turquoise, so depending on year it could be any of 4 colors. 68-red 69 turquoise or red. guys still debate this one 70-71 340 orange 73-73 blue...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

Russ Roth in Portland has a 67 W200, owned since new, installed a 451 stroker and Gear Vendors OD unit. True except it is an Advance Adapters OD/gear splitter that pilots in the OEM BB bell. It is headed for deer hunting in Eastern OR very early Thursday morning. I'm not hunting but my brother and ...

Re: NP435 questions

Most of the 4 spd swepts came with a wide ratio trans, but some were ordered with the close ratio. They're both out there, but the wide ratio is much more common. What eng do u have? Close ratio with anything but a big block is not so good for off road. Actually for the most part it downright sucks...

Re: Getting carrier out of 44F case?

Screwdrivers are probably not big enough. I used a couple smaller crow bars when I pulled mine and it came out pretty easy. Be prepared when it does drop out. :pale :Thumbsup

Re: Gas tank help

The later larger tanks will NOT just bolt in. I have one in my '67 W200 ('68 cab) and I had to cut the back inner wall to get the larger tank in. It basically takes every square inch of space behind the seat plus is taller. I made straps to hold the tank. Drilled to fit the bottom stock holes, forme...

Re: I Keep Replacing the Slave Cylinder - It Keeps Leaking

i would go through slave cylinders about every 2 years. With my last one, I swapped to DOT 5 silicone. That was 3 years ago. Im one year ahead so far!!!!! I figured that if I could keep out all moisture I would be ahead. My slaves were showing rust inside. I had about 5 years on my last set I repla...

Re: 1968 D100 Dash Color and Paint Codes

It was common in those years to make running changes during model years unlike now. I have seen advertising from the time frame stating some changes will occur during the model year as they become available. Not certain I can find that since it was some time ago. Not that I or some others are correc...

Re: 1968 D100 Dash Color and Paint Codes

A '67 with the pull handles would've been modified to appear that way after the fact. There is NO way they'd have used "leftover parts" on the assembly line, because the door striker area is quite different between the fridge handle door and the push-button doors. Plus, the doors themselves do NOT ...

Re: 1968 D100 Dash Color and Paint Codes

Black dash, crash pad and push button door handles came in '67. I have seen a '67 with black dash and crash pad but had fridge handles. Must have used leftover cab and doors and updated dash 'cause that's what was there. :Thumbsup

You will need your own snow plow truck and a tractor for lawn maintenance. That is one thing I don't like about living on acreage. I have too much yard work with only a 3rd of an acre and I am trying to downsize that. DSCF0502.JPG Good point Bill. This pic is taken from in front of one of our build...

Re: D100 vs D200

For me there would be no question, the 200 without any doubt. It will certainly ride at least some stiffer but as my brother likes to say "half tons are OK for little kids on the flat!" I happen to agree with him. :pale

Re: Front End

If you can get to the threads heat them enough to melt candle wax. The wax will suck into the threads and many times you can unscrew the nut pretty easy. Doesn't work every time, first time, but often enough it is my choice in a situation like this if you can do it.

Re: 69 d200

Shifters can be exchanged between the N P 435. Have had truck trans and tractor trans get stuck in a gear due to shifter wear at end or in the tower mechanism. Screwdriver as said to get into neutral and repair shifter end. May have to pull trans top to do some further shifter repairs in tower. Pre...

Re: 69 d200

Sounds like what happens sometimes when the shifter pad on the end of the stick gets worn and a "sliding type shift" is made instead of a true, square H pattern shift. Pull the stick out and you can see the neutral gates will not be lined up. Make sure the rig is parked solid and blocked with no pre...

Re: Grinding Gears

IMHO you would be far better to replace both master and slave. I have been around mine from day 1 and if you forget to change fluid even remotely regular (like me) you get maybe 5 or 6 years out of both of them. Trust me when I say nearly 100% of the time if one is bad the other is not far behind. H...

A ballooned convertor certainly will take out a thrust bearing. GM even put out a bulletin about it at one time.
