Re: were the same slant sixes used in cars and trucks

There is one main differace between the truck and car engines, the crank, heavier forged cranks in the truck engine. Other than the flange on the crank changing in 67 on all slants, cars or trucks there is little differances. Note, \6> the 66 and early cranks all have a smaller centering ring than t...

Re: ONE WIRE ALTERNATOR

you must wire in the old style regulator to use a old style one field wire alt. The later type of regulator that came with your truck will not work with a one field wire alt. However, if you are talking about a late true one wire alt, with no field wire, all the old field wires no longer are used an...

http://imageevent.com/jeffc/techstuff3;jsessionid=mztxheww53.zebra_s Look here for some info on dash lever/pushbutton shifters for a standard 66 and later 727 you should be able to use a cable lever shifter from any auto truck 66 to 67, just be sure to grab everything from the shift post on the tran...

I'm not positive but I think you might have to use the 61-64 hood also.
:2cents
You got it Pat, hood up to 67 is the same without any change

Correct, dimples are not there for the head light buckets on the late core support and trying to put them on the other support is not worth the effort.

Re: Changing to electronic ignition

There are a number of ways you can go. Pertornix makes a nice kit that installs in your stock dist $80 to a little over $100 Depending on model Mopar preformance kits or kits from Summit that use stock like new parts $170 to $250 Wrecking yard parts from a 73 or later 318 is the cheap way almost fre...

Re: front turn signal lense

since the parts books were used overseas also, many listing were included. Clear lense can be used in US as long as you use a amber bulb 1175A. The exception is in the 62 trucks and before, there the standard clear bulb with clear lens is OK, amber use started in 62 and later, before that all the co...

Re: are 225's interchangeable?

It's the centering ring that the flywheel fits onto the crank that changed in 67. bolt pattern and the rest is the same. If you install a early fly onto the late crank there will be a space between the centering ring on the crank and fly which will make a vibration............because it will not be ...

Re: Carb Rebuild

I agree with John on his advice, will add that the top plate on the ww3 carbs and carters from the 60s often warp because of the clamp type air cleaners that were common then, so that needs to be checked as well as all other surfaces were the differant sections meet. These need to have a clean and f...

Re: 62 Round Gauges into 68 D100?

Should be a pretty strait forward swap in, only issue is that the fuel gauge on your round set used a extrunal votage limiter instead of one built in to the fuel gauge, so be sure that you hook up both the temp and fuel gauge to the limiter (there should be one on the back of the guage set if the se...

Re: Charging System Problem

to by-pass the old system you need to run a new wire from the alt to the starter relay.... Black wire from nut on alt to the nut on the starter relay..... stock wire it 10 gauge and you need to use at least that size wire, 8 gauge is larger and that is what I would use as a replacement. A 8 guage wi...

At some point you have to get contected into the old system, one very clean way of doing close to what your after is to use all the plugs that are under the dash from the steering column, you should be able to do a pretty clean job of it under there with the right connectors..... Yeah the aluminum 727s aren't that bad on weight.
